I have a 97 gtp with 146k on it and it runs great no problems but it has this starting problem. It will start ok in the morning or after it has sat for several hours, but if i shut it off and turn it right back it starts perfectly. That is the only time i turn the key and it starts instantly all the other times it cracks several times before it turns over. It sounds like something with the fuel pressure or fuel pump. Please help me out guys.

Could also be the fuel pressure regulator. You could try swapping in a newer one and see if it still happens.

The fuel pressure regulator was the next thing i was gunna try. I got a fuel pump on the way and if that and the regulator dont fix the issue i am just gunna have it looked at. Be chance is it hard to replace a fuel pressure regulator on the grand prixs?

It's super easy. It's right on the fuel rail. With the right snap ring pliers, it's a couple of minutes to pop out the ring wiggle out the regulator and stuff the new one in.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
