Well, I’m looking for our third Grand Prix. We’ve had two GTP’s with one being a Comp G. We’ve loved both of them but the Comp G went down the road the other day, so we need something to replace it.

I’ve been looking at 2007 and 2008 GXP’s, any advice or things to look for when dealing with these years???? Good, bad, things to look for, things to avoid? I know the 2007 is a little more rare as production numbers were not as high but is there really any difference between the two?

    Any and all advice welcome!
    Thanks is advance!!!

If you dont plan to mod it really it will be a good daily driver. Also was it necessary to quote the first post?

No mods, it's going to be a daily driver for the wife just like the previous two GTP's.

07's more issues then the 08's??????????

I have an 08 and have had no trans issues, the 07's have slightly different wheels than the 08 I believe, the only annoying thing is that you cant rotate the tired seeing as how the front are wider.

Coming straight from a guy with an 07, it's hard to say, so far (I am knocking the **** out of some wood) I have had very few problems.

Couple of problems I would say

    1. LS4 runs hot as hell. A lot of the time if you have the heat off, you will feel it on your feet from the firewall.

    2. Transmission is not great. Sometimes has rough shifts and a four speed automatic should not and is not ideal for this engine (thinkin' a six speed would work )

    3. This week I got new wheels and found out my rear wheels have hella negative camber issues, approximately 1 degree. Hard to see when eyeing it, but noticeable when you take your wheels off and the inside is more bald then a racing slick while your outside is 100%. I have heard that it was a problem with a lot of them, and supposedly your local GMP dealer should have shorter control arms to fix that. Mine is getting fixed tomorrow.

Those are the only issues I can think of. Oh yeah, did I mention being automatic.

Any differences between the 07 and 08 GXP?????? I know the wheel style is a little different and there were less 07's built but any other differences? I assume brakes, tranny, motor specs, etc are all the same?

The other thing I noticed was that it seems you cannot find an 08 with navigation?

Finally, anyone know of any really clean 07 or 08 GXP's with less then 30,000 miles for sale??????

    Thanks,

    Jim
