Well, tomorrow I'm off to take the ASVAB!

Then pending my score, I'm off to MEPS on Friday.

If all goes well there, I'll be picking my job and swearing into the United States NAVY.

Then I'll get my ship out date, and it's off to Basic, up in Illinois for 8 weeks, then A school for another 14 weeks!

I'll be picking sea duty, so I'll be out on the boat 6+ months at a time.

So, we'll see how it goes.

    And you got a 94?

    Jk.

The only thing I need studying up on is Math, since I haven't done any since 2006.

Do not go unrated - definitely pick a rate. First time through I went with AT - after I got out and went back through I went with MA because that's what my plan was. As for not getting any for months on end - remember - they have women on board most ships now...You just gotta know the spots.

You will do fine its not hard at all.

And when the Doctors are asking you questions look them in the eye. If you dont they think you are lying and try to dig deeper into your background. If you told your recruiter no to the medical questions make sure you have exactly the same answers for the doctor.

Also they will try to scare you by saying stuff like if you lie you can go to prison for 10 years..250,000 dollar fines..if you lie to anyone...dont listen to them..its only a scare tactic.

And make sure to say Yes/No Sir/Maam..

Dont wear jeans with holes or dirty clothes they get pissy when you do.

^^^ I remember that - couldn't agree more - there isn't anything wrong with MA...I worked on F/A-18's for 4 years and then did 5 as an MA. If you get a good command, MA can be fun.

    Well, update:

I just got back from MEPS a few hours ago, TIRED AS ****.

I'm officially in the NAVY, and waiting to ship out to basic. My date ATM is 6/6/2011 but if a spot opens up sooner, I'm in.

I chose YM as a job (Yoeman) Which is basically a Admin level administrator, and I get to work directly with the chiefs and officers, in a a/c office.

So I'm looking forward to it, after the 4 years of YM, I'm going to switch to MA.

I scored a 98, told I could pick anything I wanted. Volunteered sub duty as a Fire Control Tech. Went to sub school in Groton, CT, then Basic Electronics Rate Training in Groton. Two weeks into the electronics rate training, a Master Chief entered our classroom and said, "Everyone in here is now a Radioman". So, I was a radioman. Good luck with that pick what you want to be stuff.

    Well aren't you smart .

Jokes aside, I could of got a better score if I had time to study, but it was a last minute thing, since a "Spot" opened up.

    Either way, I'm in.

A fluke I'm sure. I took the nuke test immediately after and bombed it. And don't get me wrong. I loved my time in, I just wanted to warn you not to believe all the promises. They were short on radiomen then and our class was the first class to be the radio operator and technician combined, so it may have just been my luck.
