this is not a race question i know a cobra can beat my car. a co-workers friend came in the other day and said he liked my car and then jokingly said hed run his 95 cobra against me. he wont say if its a 4.6 dohc or the 5.0 but hes claiming it over 600whp with no turbo s/c or nitrous. im not familiar with those but i was just curious if it really can have that kind of power. again im not planning on racing i was just wondering if hes full of **** or if i can give him props.

IIRC 95 was that last year for the 5.0... To get 600 rwhp, he's gonna have to have somekind of power adder to it. Unless they swapped in a 351w, which could of easily been stroked to 400+ cubes, that's still alot of ponies though to get to the ground without somesort of power adder.

It would take a boatload of cash to get that car to 600 without power adders. Does he strike you as stupid rich?

    what are your mods?

those cars were junk when they came out and they're junk now. a 5.0 will split in half with that much power without serious engine work. a 4.6 is just a 2 valve so i doubt hes running a 5.4 out of a navigator or a terminator engine. sounds like hes talking out of his flowmasters.

theres some tool in my neighborhood with a SN95 cobra with a loud exhaust and stickers all over it, he revs it up by me all the time but wont run. i even went to his gas station job and called him out and still nothing.

he doesnt strike me as stupid rich... maybe just stupid. he just sounds like the kind of guy that has an ego problem. i figured it wouldnt have that kind of power. it doesnt matter though even a lightly modded one with a stick can whip my car i was just wondering ya know? thanks

i own a 96 cobra with vortech supercharger. it dyno at 627 rwhp, but it has some problems. i also have own another mustang prior with 5.0 engine. it is no way you are getting a sn-95 to push 600hp with a base 5.0 engine block and components. not even with just adding a blower. adding a blower made for a base sn-95 motor will yield you about 350-375 rwhp. to get reliable 600hp you need a complete beefed up stroker motor and all the goodies along with a race force induction.

    i know a n/a 427ci dual-quad carb setup on a 78 malibu 4speed with 631rwhp
but it was built for drag racing 8.92 1/4mi on race fuel but mustangs cant pull power that high without spending triple what that pos is worth.

The '95 Cobras came with 5.0's from the factory. Only differences between them and the regular 5.0 performance wise IIRC were GT40 heads and intake which aren't that great and they are mid 14 sec. cars stock, just a tad faster than a stock GTP. He is full of **** about his numbers unless he has a fully built big cubic high compression motor that belongs solely on the drag strip. I bet he has just a catback and x-pipe. Run him from a dig if you find out he has bolt-ons, if he can't launch his 5-speed you win.

1995 600 HP Cobra For Sale or Trade Just thought the parts list would help you ask him some questions. I dont know that this really has 600hp, but the list would make it more believable than any stock stang of the SN series.
