when on the highway my 04 gtp seems to have no acceleration, i know grand prixs arent known for their top end power but ill floor it and it kicks and doesnt really do much. i was wondering if this is normal or if theirs something wrong with the car. when i first got the car it moved pretty well on the highway and the power seems diminished now. it will almost redline if i floor it and i have to let off or itll shut itself down. i was wondering if this was a possible transmission problem. i had work done on the transmission recently

it has some pep when you got it? did u get it used or new? in either case have you checked fiters, (air, oil, fuel, etc)? have you done any fluid changes? I would stick to the basic maintanace and see where that leads to. If you maintain your car then, maybe some diagnostics.

all i can describe it as is ill get on the highway ill be doing 60 and whether its in manual or automatic ill floor it and the rpm shoots up to almost redline and once it gets to 6 rpm it shuts itself down to prevent damage i guess. theirs also no power when i floor it like say if im driving in the city ill floor it and fly but on the highway ill punch it and it doesnt seem to have that much power and yes i know its faster in the streets than the highway and i know grand prixs arent known for their top end but it seems a little ridiculous.ill actually go faster if i put the pedal down halfway because if i do it more than half it kicks forward and will already be at 5 and a half rpm.its not the speed limiter because it happens depending on how high the tach gets not how fast im going. i think its the transmission ive had transmission problems with the transmission in this car before and im bringing it back to the shop tomorrow because of the highway problem and the fact that the gear ratios are messed up and the transmission will slam into 4th. i have a warranty on the tranny so i hope this problem gets resolved.

the air filters fine i dropped in a k&n about 3 months ago and this problem happened beforearound when the transmission problems started.i guess im just hoping it is the tranny its almost embarassing getting on the highway with my car everyone i know tells me i shouldve gotten rid of this car when i had the transmission problem but im just attached to the car, the only thing i plan on trading it in for is a trans am in a year or two. i also have a problem with the rack i have to look forward to fixing before i can do anything

First off your use to the powerband, throw some headers on and you will feel a difference.
