Just curious is any of you guys lift/go to the gym. Friends once told me its hard to use your free time for both lifting and working on your car (especially if you have a project car), but since I'm currently unemployed (being single helps too haha), I'm not having a problem doing both.

Any of you guys able to manage both regularly?

single, unemployed, and you lift and work on your car.

Damn. I barely have time for cars; only have time to lift after working 12-hour days, and devote my weekends to traveling to keep up with family, friends, and females. This weekend was a rarity in which I had enough time to detail my engine bay and change my oil.

i have to pick and choose my hobbies. lifting was fun for about 20 minutes when i did it. now i am stuck working on my house, my bike, my girlfriends vehicles..it never ends. lifting doesnt make the cut anymore, therefore the beer is finally getting to me.

Yeah... lifting for me is mostly to counter the beer. I had to drink enough to justify my $40 ticket to Brewfest this weekend. 25% through the line of vendors, we were just sober enough to do math, and I was $20 in. So... fair to say I may have capitalized on my investment well. Unfortunately it also means extra gym time. Gotta keep from being a fattycakes.

Sweet, nice to know you guys lift! But I'm kind of worried now that when I get a job I'm going to have to drop these hobbies, unless I find a way to work around it.

When I had a girlfriend it was almost impossible for me to do either of those, so I guess with a job it can only be worse. Damn!

Mezzoni, I guess you and I should probably enjoy the freedom while it lasts.

I use to lift some and ran 3-4 miles every 2/3 days. I was in decent shape, but could never seem to get that 6-pack I wanted. But I was in a car accident in 9/2006, a lady T-boned me in my work car, and I haven't been able to run or work out like I use to. I can lightly work out, but can't run anymore. I went from no-pack, to a 12-pack. hahaha Working on getting back to a no-pack. Like all of you have said, it's hard with work, family, cars etc, etc, etc...

Damn that sucks brah. Hope you get back to where you were and better! Yeah, this lady hit my friend on his bike a while ago - dude tore his rotator cuff and tore a couple ligaments. He's lucky - could've been worse. But after 2 years he was back in form, so there's that...

Nice, an hour a day is pretty good. And you got some cardio in your routine so that should help haha.

Whats your opinion of the Bowflex by the way? I was always of the impression that free weights were the best form but it would be nice to hear input from an actual Bowflex user.

I dont have it yet looking but have used them in the past they take a bit to get used to but they work and no weights for my kids to knock over = good

i know a couple guys benching over 250 that used bowflexes and love em

when i used to lift I used free wieghts and a lot of the time no spotter they get the job done though

I've never seen a bowflex in a gym, so I've never considered it. though, that could simply be to discourage camping.

i had the original bowflex with the power rods which they sucked it was poor design but they've come a long way since then so i cant really speak for the newer ones. and yes im trying to take advantage of it and live it to its fullest while i can. and benching my max as of about a month ago was 205, im 17 and weigh 155. and a hour in the gym is the most you should really be there anyway. muscle is built at rest and during sleep so just go in there, tear the fibers as fast as you can go home eat some protein and just take it easy for the rest of the night and get a good nights sleep

I would love to get back into lifting just dont have anyone local that I can go lift with..

i work full time, work out and play hockey and softball weekly. plus i still manage to take girls out on the weekends and work at the shop on saturdays. it all comes down to managing a schedule and not getting lazy, the 3 hours you sit at the desk reading the forums you could be at the gym toning up, etc
