so i decided a few years from now when im out of college im taking on this project. im gonna take a 2 door grand prix (the 1997-2003 model), and make it a convertible. i think it would be sweet and wouldnt seem too hard except for reinforcing the frame. i want it to look like this one.

yeah its pretty cool. so you saw it youeself? the only problem i think i would have is figuring out a rigid frame. obviously it would be a "permanant" convertible. have any better pics from underneath?

Get out the sawsall and mig welder, these cars are affordable enough now where it should'nt be a big deal. For sure some sort of bracing underneath (subframe connectors and maybe an X-brace) and possibly a "roll bar" (would look good and add rigidity).

Do it! and take some pic's while you are at it. Is there any possibility that the "removed" top could be saved and bolted on and off?

apparently the doors no longer line up on this thing since the chassis has bent that much.

yeah i probably wont be able to make it completly rigid. oh well we will find out. and i was thinking about using the top as a hard top. but idk about the rear windows then. it might be difficult so we will see what happens with it all.
