These threads are such a waste...just race the kid.
they are slow, i destroyed a modded one with my 6000lbs avalanche with 4 people in the truck. wasnt even a competition.
its a street race.. anythings possible
I'm a super-noob I don't know what any of those mods are. Except the cold-air. I'm 16 my dad says alot of that stuff is gimmicks would it really help?
I thought the K&N was a pretty legit setup?
it's just a piece of tubing with a filter attached, you're just paying for the name. the top swap mentioned is definitely more than a gimmick, adding a supercharger is gonna help. once you have a supercharger, you can do what spartangl suggested, a 3.4" setup will get you probably two-tenths either side of 14 seconds depending on the launch. and here's the kicker: shop around for used parts, make some of your own intake/exhaust work, and you could do the entire top swap for maybe $100-$150 more than just the K&N CAI kit.
this thread also has helped a lot of people:

Yeah a custom FWI only costs about $50 to make and outperforms the $300 k&n. Don't waste your money.
