Either that or get like a Ninja 250 and if anybody talks shat, tell them you get 70 mpg.
why not? so long as you dont drive like a bag of dicks then youll be fine. i have never ridden anything less than a liter bike.

    +1

Don't buy a 1k for your first bike.

I started out on a 07 Ninja 250, and I loved that bike to death, 75 mpg, and it still did 110 mph.. and nobody made fun of me. I used to ride with 1k's and keep up fine (as long as they didn't go past 110 haha)

My 2nd bike was a 05 ZX6R, which was an AMAZING bike, I loved it, but in the end, it lacked the balls I wanted.. I rode that bike for a year, then stepped up to my 1k.

My 03 Z1K, which I love, and is nothing but amazing. A blast to ride, and turns heads everywhere I go.

The next bike I'm getting, will be a ZX14.

have you looked at a zx14 next to a zx10r? the zx14 is a freakin pig. i stared them both down at the dealership yesterday right next to eachother.

will it be a horribly fast bike? sure, but that thing wont corner worth a damn in comparison to a zx10r. honestly i would probably just stick with that one and go for a few breathing mods and be done with it. either way both bikes will go faster than youll ever need to go.

I see no point in a liter bike, for the street. A 600 will have more then enough power to get you in trouble.

600s are best suited for the track as they are very light and agile. a 1000 isnt as peaky as a 600 is, even though it makes more power.

how about a bike that doesn't look like a rocket. i like that look quite a bit but my dad would **** his pants if I did it and I'd rather have slightly cheaper insurance. Ive been looking at the Vulcan 900's and the shadow phantom lately. is there anything like that you guys like?

get a sport touring bike. insurance is cheaper and they are more comfortable to ride for a long while than regular sport bikes. they still have a decent amount of power to go with them as well.

how about something in the 3 to 4k range? I dont really need a huge bike but i have to travel at least 250 miles on it one way when I drive it home so id like it to at least be comfortable. possibly for two. I do really like what you guys have shown me though dont get me wrong there im just looking for something a little different

in the 3-4k range youre looking for something a little older.

maybe check out this article for some ideas and then look for specific bikes:

    Comparison Test - 10 Sport-Touring Motorcycles - Popular Mechanics

you for sure will be uncomfortable on a sport bike for 250 miles. i never like riding a sport bike for more than an hour or so before i get a sore ass. a yamaha FZ1 might be right up your alley. i always thought an FJR1300 would be an awesome bike without those stupid saddle bags.

Yes, and I have ridden both.

I absolutely had the way they the ZX10's sit, and especially hate the way the newer ones look.

My bike is a sport touring, I like comfort. I'm more into drag then twisties.

Any bike goes faster then "anyone needs to go"
