Hey guys. Ok, so I have two questions.

    1. I am looking to get new tires. Have it narrowed between Michelin Hydroedge and Good Year Eagle GT's. I am leaning towards the GY's, but would like some input from you guys out there with these tires on their GT's.

    2. My GT seems to go through oil faster than any of my other cars. I usually have to top up a quart or two after just 2 or 3 K. Is this normal for these cars.

I have a 2003 GT and love it! We drive it pretty hard, with no troubles!! I have had this car since new, and it has always been a little oil thirsty!

    Anyway, thanks for the time!!

oil = valve cover gaskets or oil pan gasket more than likely. im assuming u put 5 quarts in when changing.

tires all come down to preference.. 245/50/16's are a good size for these cars.

Yeah, mine's leaking because of the oil pan gasket.. and ugh, what a pain it will be to change (or more likely what a hit it will be to the wallet to pay someone to do it).

I have eagle GTs on my gp. They ride pretty good i only drive on them in the winter pretty good traction too. But i would go by the pricing an check up on the reviews online to get the best input.

Both tires are great choices; in fact they are on my list for when I need tires.
The GT, superior dry traction, softer compound, shorter life, lower cost
The Edge, superior wet traction, harder compound, longer life, higher cost
There are no free lunches with tires, pick your poison.

Your oil usage problem, aside from fixing leaks that should be obvious on your garage floor there isn’t much you can do. My 2002 GP never needed any oil between changes, and it doesn’t seem to be a problem for most people. However, oil usage seems common for the GTX owners. If your car is actually burning the oil using “high mileage” oil might help, and/or switching to 10W-40 in the summer months. The good news is your car isn’t that bad yet, and if it doesn’t get worse I would'nt worry about it.
