I started "dieting" 2 weeks ago and I've always excersied. Anyway, I started at 197 and am now at 187. This is actually a lot because I'm 6'2" and decently muscular. Now, losing any weight from here is going to be haaarrrddd.

    Goal: maintain below 185

Im glad this has been an inspiration. That kinda keeps me motivated to keep going so that anyone on the fence can see that it can be done.

I too wish we all lived closer. I would love to go walking and running together. Not only would it be wonderful support, it would be a great time as you said to talk about our cars and stuff like that. My wife is no motor head, so Im kinda on an island by myself when it comes to that.

GPJeff, just keep plugin along, it will happen. Though at this point I would be ecstatic about 197lbs and your just a couple inches taller than I. I'll get there, sooner or later.

Thanks, I've been on/off "dieting" for 4 years so I know the ins and outs.

Except, this week, is eat a little more week so I don't get bored or discouraged by what I'm eating (roughly 2000 calories, suppose to be eating almost 3500)

    Well, congratulations.

Maybe this link will help you.

    General Fitness Info

It's basically something I've had up for awhile because I tend to get a billion questions myself. Maybe there will be some general info in there you can use.

    Good luck!

My cousins friend had to lose 50 lbs in a month, cuz he was entering a contest for Mr. ISU and had to weigh a certain amount but had to keep his muscle. I could never do this but he did. He worked out everyday but only ate tuna fish YUCK!!! He ate 800 cans when he was losing that weight and it worked! He never lost any of his muscle, he just put more muscle on from working out everyday. He came in 3rd place.

I use to not have such a hard time losing weight but since I got married it was hard and after having Abby it has become VERY hard. I was able to lose the baby weight and 5lbs more before I got pregnant again which I'm happy about. I tried and tried after I had Abby and couldnt lose anything until she was 9 months old I did the Atkins diet and walking 3-4 times a week each time being 2-4 miles then sometimes my hip would hurt and I found out that after I had her my hip didnt go back into place and walking really made it hurt, that is the only diet that I have found to help me lose weight. I was on that diet about a year (for only a month) before i got pregnant with Abby and lost 30 lbs in a month and was very happy, when I stopped the diet I was still watching what I ate and didnt put it back on. I would really love to be back to the weight I was when I got married but I have tried and really dont think it will ever happen. I'm 5'9 and I weighed 125 when I got married and gained about 35 lbs. After I have this baby hopefully I will be able to lose alot of weight but I'm not counting on it. Good Luck Scotty I know you can do it!!!!!!!

    Status Report 04.13.2008

I weighed in this morning, didnt loose much other than to get back where I was after the first week. I weighed in at 281.0 lbs. So I lost a pound and a half. No where near where I would want to be at, but Im not going to complain. The reason being is that my pants are most definitely getting looser. So thats not shabby at all. I would be just as if not happier with seeing the pounds come off, but getting smaller isnt a bad thing either.

I'll keep you all posted and continue on. If it would ever warm up and stay warm Id get out and do some yard work too which I know would help out.

good job on this post scotty . i have been trying to lose weight for a while now . i started in nov. 2007 weighing in over 300 i am currently at 265 . the biggest thing that i found out that helped was eating breakfast every morning and alot of water (8-8oz cups a day at least). i use to never eat in the morning but as soon as i did BAM i started dropping pounds until i got to 265 now i need to do something more than walking a mile a day . congrats though and keep it up !

Well congrats on your success and I hope it continues. I was very close to that weight myself. Im no where near walking a mile a day but I sure would like to get there.

I too have started eating breakfast, though it mainly consists of a cup or so of oatmeal, but I too never ate breakfast or rarely at least.

Keep up the good work yourself.

Well this is good though Scott you are going to gain a few lbs
before you really start to see a lose in it...
I have worked out most of my life am 49 years old now
but used to body build and power lift... loseing weight is not
such a easy task to do for some ppl and is great to see you doing this..
I am over the 300 lb mark and say this with a sad face...
I did not realize it till i stood on the normal scales and broke it..
    No lie....
Well today i started at a budys gym also and my goal is to get back down
    to 200 220
Guess i better go say sorry to the wife for telling her to stop shrinking my cloths....
    Keep up the great work
I have a Dr. scales i weighed myself on and i am 137.5 kilos not good

Seems like we all are reaching some point that triggers in us a different view or some epiphany in which we realize we got to take action. Im glad you came and shared that with us.

For me, sharing something like this out in the open sorta forces me to do something about it. I cant dump everything out in the open like this and leave myself the same, I have to take action.

Im glad to see others come in here and post up their situation too. This is a good thing. Sharing is not bad, it gives us all someone to lean on, someone to relate to and ideas and examples to follow.

I'm like you guys. The hardest time for me to eat is in the a.m. You know sometimes just cramming that a.m. mile in before the office is about all I can do. But you know if I can come back and throw something in the blender or have something premade that I can grab out the door or keep at the office, it's great. One scoop of chocolate or vanilla protein powder with a banana, orange, or even oatmeal works in the blender. Or sometimes I will make up breakfast burritos or protein & oatmeal pancakes on Sunday and keep them in the fridge at work for the week. My snack at night are these really yummy peanut butter balls that I make with natural peanut butter, vanilla protein powder and a little honey. Those are fabulous at night when my sweet tooth seems to be on the rampage. Plus I will burn that off when I jog in the a.m. anyway.

you know my biggest weakness is going out for lunch to a mexican taco stand and getting a burrito or a carnitas plate w/ beans and rice . i love eatting good food but damn if those foods arent high in calories . my lady has been getting these low calorie microwave lunch things and i should really do the same . all of them have like 200-500 calories per lunch and we usually pick them up 10 for $10.00 from the store on sale . i have been trying to stay with in 2000 calories per day . we have been looking up alot of low calorie but good food to cook . found some good but some that are terrible . anyways hope everyone is doing good on whatever diets they have and keep it up everyone !

with those microwave things look at the fat too, some have low calories on the label but once you mix it with the fat content they are worse than a big mac
