i never have problem with weight, but i need to start going to the gym and work out with my pop again. my father is 56 years old and he's in great shape, i'm jealous. i used to work out with him 3 times a week up until last year when i lost interest. don't know how he do it, but here's his routine:

drink 1 can of slim fast everyday.

eat his favorite cereral every morning, shredded wheat or special K.

after his breakfast he takes one aspiran and bunches of vitamins.

after work, he crack open couple of cold one and drink half a glass of his favorite chardonnay wine.

on the weekend if he don't have to work he eats a bowl of oatmeal and hit the gym afterward.

he been doing this routine for years^^^^. lasy year when we went to vegas he brought a can of slim fast and his breakfast stuff with him i was so

Man I appreciate everyones stories and the sharing of your info and where you are as well, thank you all. It is encouraging to see the community we have here. I did not expect so many to come out and post about where they are, hats off to each of you for being willing to bare yourself in that manner in this community. I think that alone speaks very well of this community and its members.

If posting this helps jump start someone else, then all the better.

Me and the wife just back in a few minutes ago from our walk and working out on the exercise machine. Ive been doing mainly upper body work on the machine but Im going to have to read through the rest of the book I guess and figure out how to do lower body stuff, particularly abs since that is my weakest area. I have always had decent upper body strength and as mentioned I used to run a lot as well, but ab exercises always gave me a run for the money, even in the military. I could always max out on my push up and running scores but typically just barely passed in sit ups.

Anyway that you again, all of you for posting what you have here. I can hardly wait until I have the opportunity to meet all of you.

    Status Report, 04.06.2008

I weighed in today and surprise, I gained a pound. Im now at 282.5. Not quite sure how that came about, but oh well. I'll just have to keep chugging along. I missed two days of working out this week, so Im sure that didnt help matters any.

Its getting warmer so that means things like yard work and such which when I start Im out there for a long time. Mowing the grass, edging, cleaning the sidewalk and driveway so that will give me some extra exercise.

Anyway, just thought I would post up a progress report. I still feel a lot better, definitely sleeping a lot better. So I'll keep on going until I get to where I want to be.

Well, good work so far scotty!! As far as that pound goes...That could be from anything....Drinking water an hour before you weigh yourself or not going to the bathroom and so on...I think you already mentioned this or at least someone did....I think when you first start a good diet you will loose a lot of weight real quick (because that is the weight that is not suppose to be there and probably hasent been there for to to long) After that weight is lost I think it will be a little harder (for everyone) to lose additional weight because it is more ''built in'' ...Sorry I couldnt give a more scientific definition of it but it seems like people go through this a lot when dieting...especially at first (me included) So dont stop and get frustrated....but instaed keep going!!!

I'll definitely keep going, the alternative isnt pretty. Additionally, Im not using as much salt as I had been because Im eating more vegetables and salt draws the water out from them and makes it hard to store them (advance meal preparation) and makes them mushy which I dont like at all. I really dont care for them to be cooked all that much either.

So I would imagine the first weeks weight loss was from a lot less water retention, who knows. But I'll continue on.

Hey man maybe i can throw a couple idea at you. Only saying this because i work at GNC (Genral Nutrition Center), ok for starters do you take a daily Multi Vitiman? next you should supplement you lunch with a 20-30 gram protien shake that will help fight hunger and it will help your muscles grow. Your muscles grow= fat burns faster. This next one is not just because i work there but i have taken Vitimans all my life from GNC they have the fastes absorbsation rate and are ranked in the top 5 for consumer reports i would suggest the mega man sport vita pack. and our 100% whey choc. carmel flavored its the best tasting. The Vita Pack have the regular sport Vitiman and a mens energry enhancer witch willl help with weight loss a fish oil pill and a nitrix oxcide pill witch can aid in weight loss.. ok well i hope i could have been of some help pm me if you have any questions

I do take a multi-vitamin everyday and a fish oil capsule. I havent tried any of the other stuff you mention, but I work next to a couple of guys that are in the gym everyday and they are chocking down those protein shakes all the time.

I may hit you up for some more info in the near future as I definitely need to be on some supplements that will keep my energy levels up and Im not at all sure where to start with that.

not all the products from gnc are approve by the fda. just a waste of money imo. the only thing i would buy from gnc are vitamins and protein shakes that's about all i know will work. my old man, is an old school he told me when he won first place in the master class (40 plus year old) powerlifting contest, he said he never took any of those "muscle in the bottle" that's what he called gnc products. during his training he took vitamins, daily whole some meal and intense work out. at 56 y.o. now and he still active and ripped.
