OK guys my Avatar is the picture of the Grand Prix I want to get. It is a 2001 for $2400.00 with 220,000 miles. Its has some dents on it, but if it drives like the 2000 for $2000, I am going to get this one.

Blue says go for it, I would like to know the rest of your opinions on it? The 2000 had 280,000 miles so if I can get 60,000 miles before major repair I am happy. Major is anything over $500.00 to me.

Also Blue if you can suggest some good repair shops in our area I would greatly appreciate that too.

Thank all you guys for your help and suggestions, I am listening to you. I drove that 2000 GP and man I loved it, but the engine light was on and it had 280,000 miles and that scared me, plus the majority of you said not to get it.

Is a check engine light serious? I would use the car for a daily driver. Let me know please people, I trust you more than anyone else. But my Avatar is the photo of the car I am looking to get.

Light can be anything like stated.

But man, why are you looking at these insane high miles cars ??

200k+ is NOT worth more then $1000, and I wouldn't even pay that.

Man I am still looking. I went to that dealer and that 2001 GP GT car was junk. The car had dents everywhere, 220,000 miles, no pass. mirror on the outside, smoking engine, dash torn up, no radio, no steering column cover, windows not working. Moreover he talked way to much, made me seem like I was stupid, irritated me. The rest of his cars were worse.

Sounds like your looking for cars on damned Prospect man. Food for thought..have you ever thought about a secured VISA card to build your credit back up? You can get one at the new US Bank they just built in Liberty...basically you take a minimum of $300 and put it on there as a deposit. You use it like a gift card basically and pay it off like a credit card...but since it is your money...your really not losing anything (like you would on a credit card, example...interest rates)...follow? That might help you...and you might be able to get a small loan through a small town bank...have you ever tried that? Like KCB Bank or Pony Express? I know a few banks don't even check credit scores around here. Might try that too. I'd sell you my grand prix for all the cash you got...but its just a shell Everything else is in great shape though...and it only has 80K on it...but if I put the motor and transmission in it...might knock the price up to about 8K LOL

Good luck though dude, sounds like your having a pretty rough time...everything will for sure turn around though...maybe buy a junker for right now until you get back on your feet...that way you can save your money for something nice.

Blue I am a simple minded person, can you explain "for cars on damned Prospect man". Does this mean looking and just hoping I find something? If so yes. What does that mean, someone pleases explain?

Someone help me this is the best car I have seen as of yet Blue are you with me?

"The car has a clean title. The only thing that I know that "was" wrong was it had a power steering leak, but i got that fixed on Friday. It was a pin hole in the return line. It uses a little oil. We might be willing to drive to St. Joe.
    Thanks for your response"

"1996 Pontiac Gran Prix GTP for sale. $1,200. Runs good, in decent condition. 2 door, leather interior, sunroof, all power windows, locks. Has new water pump, new head gaskets, and new ball joints. It has about 160,000 miles on it.Starts and runs good. Our son drives it back and forth from work and school."

I need someone that knows about cars and Blue thats you. Can I give you some fuel money to make this trip and advise on the car?

This is open to anyone that can help.

I'd say if there is a bit of cosmetic damage and it has high mileage...but runs and drives good, I'd say shoot for the $1700-$2000 range. If need be...$2,400 isn't BRUTAL. It's all up to you though man...its your money.

If your 16 how do you work at an auto dealer? Anyways LLoyd I hope you find a car. You might want to look into the prior salvage market for cheaper low mileage cars.
