Anyone got any opinions on this GXP? 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP, $14,950 - Cars.com
I'm considering getting a newer car come next winter or this time next year and I'm torn on what to get.
Granted, in a year, the 08's will probably all be pushing 80k miles...which is more than I wanted....but if I could find one in the right price range.
It seems a little high priced to me. Especially considering I can pick up a '11 Impala LTZ for that price...it wouldn't be a V8, but it would be 3 years newer and half the miles.
In theory, I would like to stay around the 10-12k$ range.
1992 Cadillac sts with a supercharged 3.8
Not sure if this was posted already
thatd be a fun project!
D, I would go and test drive it. You can't really say for sure until you get behind the wheel.
If you do, listen for the wheel hubs roaring, and clicking while turning (axles), and keep a eye on shifts as the trans get weak due to the power from the V8. If it feels good and pull strong it would probably be a solid car. 80k is nothing on those, the trans is the only big weak link, the 5.3L is the same as most other 5.3s and are solid work horse motors, basic maintenance and you will be golden.
Modding is just expensive :P
I won't go hard core looking until I'm wanting to replace it unless the local dealer gets one in (I know the salesman and wouldn't be afraid to just ask to give it a test drive).
If the tranny seems good, will it be ok for a long time with my easy driving? I know its hard to tell. I do about 25 miles a day, rural driving so nothing real hard. I think I want a gxp tho... :D
Get a GXP. Other than what TLSheff said, I will say that my dealership see's these 5.3's sometimes. And most of the time, yes they're in the transmission stalls. But I would say it's a great upgrade from the GT. Comfy, interior, practical performance, and good styling. I think those make awesome DD's. Just add a trans cooler if you end up picking one out for the right price.
Also, here in NW IN, we've had some GXP's in our used lot with low miles (35-60k miles) and ranged from 12-14k price tags
Danielle if you want to drive an 04+ you could drive my comp g and see if you like it.
