Poor thing. All turbo owners should take this moment and get a fire extinguisher haha. And can I have his trunk and parking brake. Those look pretty solid.

The whole plastic intake is a definet no no for sure on the next build. Fire extinguishers are definetly gonna be put in my cars for sure now after this. No matter how stupid they look.

we are going to drop the cradle and pull the motor and trans and what ever else we can salvage. New build will start after his next deployment. And will be started in Virginia at his new base that hes being stationed at. Blue, this buddy of mine is from Kansas City, MO so u might be seeing this car on the trailer pullin in within the next couple of weeks round Thanksgiving time.

I doubt insuanrce will cover this. The car was modded, thus the fire. An insurance inspector/adjustor will probably come and look at it, notice the turbo and thus say the car was modded. Unless his insuanrce is OK with engine mods and he has his receipts for all the work...

I also would not use the engine, or turbo in my ride. The trans yes, everything else no way. Everything on that engine that is not metal needs to be replaced, even some of the metal items look toast. That's just me though...

And I was sad thinking it was a mid-late eighties model.

It'll be like scraping off a 25+ year old gasket off of a small block...

Military+USAA owner? I hope not! USAA insurance is great very affordable but I hope the car was appraised. USAA was a nightmare when my wife rolled our 2004 GMC Envoy last winter. Hope the insurance company treats him right.

Bro that really sucks, a car is like your life, and to see it catch on fire.... it really hurts.

Hopefully he can do something with what's left over.

Yes military + USAA. Hes already got plans now on buying an SS monte and doing a twin charge setup. He is gonna do after he gets back from his next deployment. Hes on this thing where its like 6 months on 6 months off for deployment or something like that. Gonna drop the cradle this weekend after we get the car back.

You are for sure right. id cry my eyes out if that was my car.

Glad to hear their are already plans for a new car, cant wait to see the next monte. Make sure when you see him you say "Everyone at GrandPrixForums.net is sorry for his loss." Hope his Veterans Day was good.
