What'd be impressive is if someone had a car that has been through north eastern or a Canadian winter every year and still 200K and going.

Unless you get it undercoated, not going to last really.

That was another issue when looking for a GTP here, they all had stupid high mileage on them.

Whatever. I've got 233,000+ on my '98 and it looks fine. You're confusing the GM W-Body with Japanese crap which doesn't hold up to Midwestern winters.

02, 77K, rust along the pinch welds along the under-body is starting to set in, particularly in the jack areas. Dog bones rusty along with along the folds on the inner side of the hood. Same story with the trunk lid.

Took the rear bumper off to see what was hiding. Surface rust was on every part of the inner fascia of the bumper. Front bumper comes off next summer to see what else is going on down there.

Another friend has a beautiful example of a GP... spot rust on the hood along with many other small rust issues, particularly around the gas lid.

    Canada does things to cars.

I only have 137000 on mine but my good friend had a lesabre with the 3800 and i think he had around 250000 on it when he traded it. These motors will run forever.

I bought my GTP from a guy in NY and it was his DD. And since then, it has been my DD. I drive it through the snow, salt, etc and it is holding up just fine. No real rust issues. 225k miles.

Pshh, 280k on the Chassis and trans of my 2000 SE. Been through 2 motors though (which is odd considering you'd think the trans would go haha) 1 because of a bad oil level sensor (motor seized) 2 because of a shotty rebuild. I did numero 3 (L67 ) Routine maintainance and you should be fine.
    98 Grand Prix GTP L32, GenV, n*, 3.2", 1.9 rr's, 3.29 gears. All that jazz SOLD
99 Mustang GT Steeda UDPs, 3.73s, Pypes O/R xpipe, Accufab plenum, Steeda CAI, B&M ripper, MHS s2 cams, 10.5:1 compression (290whp/310wtq) SOLD

You are blaming blow a motor on a bad oil level sensor? Seems to me like you just didn't check the oil.

Wasn't my car at the time. I do routine maintainance on both cars myself, but at the time I was only 14 years old and wasn't in the least bit interested in cars

Regardless, a bad oil level sensor doesn't cause a motor to go bad. Low oil because someone didn't check the oil level will cause a motor to go bad.

To be fair, the oil was JUST changed maybe a week or so prior so I can only assume the shop who did it either didn't add enough or didn't tighten the filter/drain plug and it all leaked out. Whatever the case may be, if you do routine maintainance you shouldn't have any issues.
