Anyone here a southern rock fan? I only really listened to Lynard Skynard, .38 Special and ZZTop until a couple days ago when I heard Drive-by
    Truckers.

Now I need more recommendations, so if anyone here knows a good band, post in this thread.

I like Rush a lot too!

To be honest, I'm a big metalhead, but I can't get enough of classic rock/southern rock and even rockabilly.

Now I've never heard Journey, but I might give 'em a shot. Any recommendations on which album to start with?

You're right - I have heard journey. Haha go figure!

Not bad, if I'm honest. Bit of a change from Iron Maiden, but good music is good music. Don't hear much of this stuff back in India or Dubai, although the number of rock/metal fans has grown a lot in recent years. The hip/hop/techno/pop scene still dominates though.

    Classic rock FTGDMFW!

Haha yeah believe it or not but I had never heard of Journey. Not much scope for exploring classic bands in Dubai since all the record stores sell hip/hop, RnB and pop music. So I had to build it up by trying out new bands and friend recommendations.

But yeah, Pantera were one hell of a band!

How about the band that started the southern rock thing? The Allman Brothers Band. Give Live at Fillmore East a try.

Those are some really crazy band you guys listed. Yeah I listen to Black Sabbath, Zeppellin, Maiden, Priest, Saxon, AC/DC, Metallica, Slayer, testament, Anthrax, Overkill and so on.

Basically, classic metal, classic rock, southern rock, NOWBHM, old school thrash, death metal, melodic death metal, power metal, true metal. All sorts of metal. Not really the new stuff too much, but its not bad. Its kind of ruined me to other genres of music though, haha.

Sabbath and Rainbow are excellent! Out of the newer bands, I like Disturbed the most.

ewww....vs GWAR...They are so close in the type of music they put out..But IMO I like Lordi better! GAWR don't have many songs I like and the one they do have is a re-make. So I would have to go on Lordi.

Fair enough! I only ask because when I went for Wacken Open Air last year Lordi were playing and some Lordi fans told me they vehemently despised GWAR and how GWAR were too political etc. I don't really listen to either of those bands but I was just curious.
