Before you read i know you may be biased towards the grand prix, but please keep and open mind

Alright, i have narrowed my choices to two different cars a 2006 Pontiac grand prix, and a 2006 Chevy Monte Carlo. The Monte Carlo has a 3.9 L v6 with 242 horsepower, the grand prix a 3.8 v6 with 200 horsepower, the Monte Carlo looks to have better interior the exterior is still up for debate. The Pontiac does have a slight upper hand on mileage (30 vs 28). Heres the main question, i loved my little Neon, the handling was so sharp and i would love to have another car like it, which is the best handling car, the Monte Carlo might have more power, but if the Grand Prix is better in the bends i would like to know so i can make a decision with that in mind.

Also i am thinking about the 2006 Malibu Maxx SS, it has the same motor as the monte carlo, and has sharp handling along with great utility... just an after thought.

both out of the box handle about the same. I dont know the suspension on the Monte's.....bt they used to be the same as the prixs.

there ae tons of aftermarket sway bars, handling kits for these vehicles to make them out handle anything.

but your right....I am biased more toward the Grand Prix. I know very little about the rest.

For what its worth, I like the Malibu Maxx's, particularly the SS. Though I think that moniker is wasted on the Malibu, but nonetheless. I had a co-worker that had the Maxx and I liked it a lot. Great vehicle with, as you stated, great utility. The more powerful motor just adds some fun factor to it.

I test drove a Malibu Maxx a couple of years ago and thought it was a really fun car to drive. Back then Internet searching and reading posts from current owners stopped me. The biggest thing then was that glass roof with the cheap see-thru window shade. Many complained about the heat from the glass and warping of the window shade.

I would have to say between the Monte and GP, handling wise probably the same. Then there is the additional HP of the Monte.

Doesn't the Monte have 12" brakes now?

The Monte always had the 12" front discs. But like stated above, you can always get aftermarket 12" brakes for the GP. Also another thing to consider about the GP over the Monte, if you can find a 2006 GT, it is going to have the SC already in it. I do not believe there is an optional aftermarket bolton SC for the 3.9 unless you go Turbo maybe *shrugs*

And if you got a 2006 Base GP, you are looking at more work in the future if the mod bug hits ya. I would say look for the GT with the SC in it. You will be a lot happier down the road

Just a couple of thoughts on that one
