So as some may know, ive got a SE.. im visually converting it into a GT/GTP.
one day id like to have a GTP, but im thinking after all the work im putting into this, im wondering if i can install a GTP engine in there?

Its a 99 SE, what would i need to do/get in order to do this? is it even possible? is it even a good idea? what would it cost roughly?

reason why this isnt in the engine section or elsewhere is becuase its not even remotly close to something im gonna do, so the technical need to know isnt required.. just general conversation around the idea is all..

I'd say around 600 for the cost, yes it's an awesome idea, and you'll need the L67 engine (junkyard will be cheapest), and a wiring harness. Might need more, someone else will have to chime in on that.
And FYI geddy will probably move this to the tech discussions anyway

would i need engine and tranny? or just the engine?

ive determined theres not reason to put so much time and money into my car just to sell it to buy a gtp, so if i can find this out now i can set up/layout a plan on how im gonna do this full conversion Im super excited about it.. despite being broke ass lol

Both...the L67 and the 4T65E-HD, PCM, and wiring harness...might as well put a cam in it while it is out too

I shake my head when folks say wiring harness. But then I converted an NA harness to SC before and understand how easy it is to do.

    You need
Engine or top swap parts. Top swap is usually more expensive to do.
Transmission or the HD diff, HD diff cover, output shat and one axle.
Wiring harness or one connector for the boost control and the map extending harness ~$20 from vendors
PCm reprogramming or a friend with a tuner and a six pack

That's what I've found in doing these types of things is required. As with any case you can add on or subtract some things, but the base level remains about the same.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

oh i can feel the drool poolin on my chin lol

    essentially my goal is:
    1. visual swap
    2. tint/graphics
    3. suspension replacement
    4. engine/tranny etc..
    5. Awsomely hot car!

this is gonna take alot of time (getting married next year so there goes a ton of cash)
that and i dont yet have the tech skills/tools needed oh yeah and the cash lol

i think in the long run it will be cheaper then buying a GTP, becuase this way i know that im rust free etc... the visual stuff is costing the most in time/$$

Its a TON of work man... just did this with my GT including a complete rebuild (top and bottom end)...

the excitement fades a bit... better do it before you get married to save you a divorce.. lol.. many long hours are required and if you say you aren't that mechanically inclined it might just be easier to buy a GTP.

screw the HD trans and its stupid gearing. you dont need it. i can break an HD just as easily as i can break the non-HD.
