Hello everyone. I might be in the market soon and was thinking about buying an '01 or newer GP. I do realize there was a model change aroung '03 (guessing) but I am not sold on either. There are things I like about both. My main question I guess is what are the common, if any, flaws or regular issues with these cars? Does the interior seem to rattle or squeak? Any suspension issues? Anyone have any solid MPG figures? Thanks for any help!

I have an '01 LS1 Trans Am. The passenger seat in it and my GP rattle if no one is in them. The widows in both the cars either go up slow or motor goes out. To me those are my most common problems with my GP. And, my TA has the same issues. The clear coat has come off my spoiler on the GP. Good luck with your buy! Oh yeah, get a GTP.
My husband wants to know what you are gonna do with your TA? I'll trade you a 97 GP for it

Thanks for the info, very helpful. The TA is the toy, lol! We dropped the new forged 355 (wasn't really interested in a 383) in a few months ago and just tinker more or less. Great car, just takes a little while to work through it's issues. Mainly the same old song of squeaks, rattles, and yes, windows and headlight issues. I am going to hold on to it for a couple more years I think.

My husband has an LT1 Camaro. Big headache! Damn optispark. You ought to put some pictures in your album on your profile! I'd like to see it! And anything else.

The stiffer you make the suspension the more rattles you'll end up with. Thats true for any car. I've developed a few recently, but I have had that issue with any car I've owned after 100K. In my GTP I get 29+ mpg highway and about 23 city/highway mixed. Compared to my 07 cobalt which gets 35 highway and 26 city/highway mixed I cant complain. Great MPG for the performance. The MPG will drop when you kick in the SC.
I have had no major issues. I have 110K, second owner. Bought it with 70k on it. Been a great reliable car. No regrets!

Thanks for the info guys and gals! Makes me feel more sure about buying one.
Yeah the optispark was the first thing I replaced on the T/A. unfortunatley I haven't been messing with it too much latley, but with the weather warming up I will be in the mood.

Where did you get your opti? Are you happy with it? We got his from Summitt I think, but I personally think the mechanics didn't change it.
You gonna get a GP? Where are you lacated?

Buy my Grand Prix! lol. 2000 gtp, 30k miles, paint job seen in my sig. I have an engine/trans with 5k miles on them about to be dropped in. The engine has an xp cam, springs, retainers, double roller chain. The trans has 7/8th chain,3.29 gearing,input,4th shaft!! so whoever gets this car will be in love! asking $10,500. Absolutely mint condition, stored for winters/bad weather. I haven't posted the car for sale yet since its in the process of being worked on. More info to follow within the week. Also I have 2 grand prix's so it shows that these are amazing and easy to maintain, but i'm upgrading to a 02 WS6.

Car sounds fun. I will more than likely be looking for a virgin as it will be a commuter. I recently changed locations for work and drive a good bit more everyday. So the poor T/A will only be driven MAYBE twice a week . I might be selling my '07 Silverado if anyone is interested.
