I was just watching a show on National Geographic on Moonshine and they said how Nascar got started. It got started by guys that ran the moonshine at night they were called Moonshine runners they had mods done to their cars so they could out run the police and they ran it at night so there wouldn't be as many cars on the road so they could easily out run them. Then since there were a few guys that ran the moonshine they started racing each other during the day and thats how Nascar got started.

Yea, it all started in Dawsonville.

And here I thought it actually started in Kentucky. Mainly down in Hazard. Not necessarily with the Duke Boys, but I thought the big run was from Ky to Tenn. *shrugs*

I saw that on TV about a month ago. Interesting. Started out about cars, and how people made them fast after they bought them. Ended up with moonshine and race cars.

Yeah, I learned that a long time ago. Funny, though, how NASCAR kinda brushes that aside now, LOL.
