The circled area is where on stock Grand Prix's the U Bend is located. Mine obviously was removed a 3" pipe was added in it's place. The purpose of the U Bend Delete is to allow gases from your exhaust to escape faster from the manifolds and out to your catback and out of your car. It allows for better performance in any Grand Prix basically.
Most shops will charge anywhere from $50 to 100 depending oh how nice you ask you them :) Its money well worth spent too!

Another thought...if you want to...and not sure how your state is on the converter polices, but you could take that out at the same time too...since you have a GT I know they are sometimes known for converter failure. That way it would give your GT a little more breathing room too and sound a bit better out back ;) Don't by anyway just do this because I or someone else said so...it is your car...do as you wish...just my 2 cents worth :D

The U-bend delete sounds good I'm going to have that done, but as far as the converter I don't like the way exhaust sounds without it, unless its different on GPs its always sounded kind of raspy without it to me, and IL requires it :p

It is the resonator that makes the raspy sounds ;)

The GPs cat is always located in that same position in my picture. Some states with lesser or no emissions testing, go without one. Some folks go as far as getting a cat, hollowing it out to fool the inspectors and turn off the controls to the rear O2 sensor so it does not throw a trouble code.

Yeah its a biggin! But that is what Borla made with their design, and after having my factory SLP catback WITHOUT a resonator, it was like night and day in regards to enterior cabin noise. I am much much happier with this setup than with the SLP. Sure the SLP has its place, but you need to lay down some dynomat to drown out that droan. Now its 10,000 times more managable than before :)

Well since I'm doing the U-Bend delete anyway I figured I might as well just get a downpipe from ZZP because that comes with the u-bend delete. From reading their info it sounds like I should go with the 2.5 bolt-in with cat? That right? Also will I need to add the front and rear gaskets?
