2004 Mercedes-Benz CL55 AMG (next to my Grand Prix):
Both cars, me (the tall, goofy one), and the salesman:
I've been seriously looking for a new car for over a year now, but I hadn't found what I was looking for. I went to a dealership to look at another car, which was already sold when I got there. After talking to the salesman about what I wanted, I wound up sitting in the CL55.
I was immediately intrigued, but took a couple of days to cool off and research the car before taking a test drive. After driving it, I was hooked. The car is solid, luxurious, comfortable, and powerful (5.5L supercharged V8, 493 HP, 516 ft-lbf). The car is so smooth and poised, however, that you barely realize how powerful it is until you see the speedometer needle.
Overall, I paid $39,000 for it. Considering that it cost around $117,000 new, I'd say I got a pretty good deal.
I had a good run with the GP. I bought her new in 2002, and here's her mileage when I trader her in:
She was a great car, and after deciding to sell her I felt a little sad. It's nothing a little German tailpipe music can't cure.
