You mean that is not what it is for ?![]()
Naaa, that is what the smoker out back is forDont give him any ideasYeah I thought it was pretty funny too and after I used it I thought damn I should have done this years ago!
I love Good Eats and the science spin. That's funny too funny Dave. You need to send Alton that picture. Now I have to ask, you didn't cook that turkey in your garage did you?![]()
Lee of course I cooked it in my garage! Im suprised it took this long for that one to pop out lol. The trick is DO NOT EVER use a fryer in the garage with the door shut and drink!!!!!!!! If you think of it this way it is no different than using a forced air fuel powered heater such as kerosene or propane to heat a garage and most people dont have any type of ventilation and dont know the risks. I always have the door partly opened with plenty of air moving around to keep the fumes out. I used to use the fryer outside and it really was a hassle as we often have terrible weather around thanksgiving and xmas so I opted for having at least 3 walls around me, the garage floor is also much easier to clean up as it is very smooth and sealed. Safety is #1 no matter where you use one though and common sense keeps you out of trouble![]()

wow, well i fried on saturday in my garage, with my kerosene heater going...lol. i had the windaz open and the big door 1/4 open though. and whaddoya know, it took 7 beers to cook lol.
At least you had some fresh air in! My father, father in law and myself found out the hard way that its a bad idea to not have any fresh air in! We killed a bottle of Woodford Reserve whiskey chasing it with beers while in the garage for a few hours with the fryer going and as soon as we went in the house to eat within 10 minutes all three of us literally passed out near unconcious for an hour or two. None of us knew what the heck just happened so my dad looked into it the next day on the internet, mainly because he knew better than any of us passing out drinking so little lol, and it turns out that when you breathe in enough carbon monoxide it gets into your system and alcohol enters your blood stream over twice as fast hitting you hard and if you breathe enough of it and drink it will kill you. Coming out of it and breathing the fresh air in the house gives you a shock and it hits you really fast and you dont know what happened. He found all sorts of websites of people talking about the new rave of how to get trashed! I would never recommend that to anyone! New rules at my house are not an ounce of any form of alcohol near the fryer!
