    275/55R16

On my 16x8 rims I know the tires will fit the rim.... but will I be able to drive with them on ? Rims are the old crosslace 16x8's that came on the old GP's.

Looking at getting M&H racemaster DR's

My boss has them on his GN and they kick ass.

I'm gonna say they will probably go on the car, but not well. I wouldn't use that combo.

Wheels: If you have 16 x 8 wheels, I'm assuming you got them off an old Turbo Grand Prix? If so offset is +25 on those and 97-03 stock wheels are 16 x 6.5 with +52. I'm just assuming you have a 97-03 GP if I remember correctly. If so the wheels will have 8 mm more clearance and stick out 46mm more than stock. This will put the wheel pretty much even with the outside edge of the fender.

Tires: I wouldn't run personally. They are just off too much. 275 will fit on the wheel as you said. With the specs you said the diameter of the new tires will be 1.3" larger and 4.8% slower on the speedo. Not mentioning everything that could be thrown off by that much difference, I would think you will run into troubles with the tires rubbing. Especially now that the tires are alot wider and taller than stock. Also the car will sit higher.

So you could most likely physically put them on the car, but I wouldn't. Also to get close to the correct diameter with 16" 275s you would need 275/50-16, but I have only seen those in all-season and all-terrain tires.

Good luck. Hope this helps. I think I'm correct in my provided info.

thats a BIG tire........I think it would rub the strut.......I know a 255/50/16 DR is very close to the strut itself...

Yes they're the old Cross lace 16x8's from GP's. And will go on a 98 GTP.

I don't care about the speedo being off, or how the car looks. How is the diamater bigger ? the stock tire is 225/60R16 ...

Car sitting higher isn't a concern as I'm on Eibach's in the front and stockers in the back.

The thing I'm really worried about is a rub issue because these tires WILL still be streeted but if they rub it's illegal and annoying.

At $192 a tire I don't really want to order them and to not have them fit.

well it gonna be a taller tire because a 225/60r16 means that the tires are 225mm wide and the sidewalls are 60% of 225. so the 275/50 means that the side wall is 50% of 275

I'm not sure I'd run a 275/50-16 on an 8" rim. According to the tire manufacturers, the 275/40-18 I'm running on my other car shows that the minimum rim width for that tire is 9", with 9.5" being the optimum.

Yes, as stated I wasn't talking about rim diameter, but outer tire diameter. With the new tire you're looking at being 1.3" larger the car will sit 0.65" higher and have 0.65" less wheel well gap.

This is on top of the fact you plan to run tires approx. 2" wider than stock. If you are lowered at all I almost guarantee you will rub and possibly would anyways. Especially since the offset of the rims puts the wheel/tire at the fender already, possibly problems inside at that increased size as well.

This will also throw off other things in the car besides speedo. I believe they recommend not going more than 3% off or it can cause problems with abs, speedo, etc. 275s on an 8" wide rim will work, but for 16s your gonna be hard pressed to find an acceptable tire you're wanting at that width that will work. As always check with the specific manufacturer with the exact sizes for recommendations, as same width tires with different specs can have different recommendations.

M&H Racemaster will work on the 8" rim

I was told the biggest i can go on a W-body is 255

But since there is an offset like that, won't the tires just stick out the sides ? I have no problem with rolling or cutting fenders. Guys run the Bullit Mustang rims, and you can stuff a 275 on them ... put mine will be 16's ....

it is all on the back spacing. also in turning, you wont be able to run your full steering radius without rubbing the wheel in the wheel well.

1FastGTP has 275 bullets on his.........but he has lower profile tires.

but your tire size is taller, and if you turn hard...the tire will flex the opposite way you are turning...if you make a hard left hand turn..your RF tire will flex into the strut.

are you able to test fit it? have one mounted? and thrn the wheel and measure the distance with the weight of the car on them?
