My 99 Ford SHO for a 05 yamaha vmax 1198cc motorcycle?

    For:

One of my friends works with a guy that wants an SHO for his daughter. He wants to just trade his motorcycle for it, plus $1000. Now the bike is fast, runs low 11's in the 1/4 mile, is a 4 cylinder and makes more hp than hondas, 145hp, but I am an amatuer and don't think I need the bike or at least not that kinda bike. If anything, I see the vmaxes going for $5000+ on ebay. This one would have 8k miles on it.

I've had two cars for a couple years now, I can afford to keep them but there is no parking spots here as I am a college student, so I kept the SHO stored back home at our farm, it came in handy a couple times but I don't need it. The NADA values on the SHO with 101k miles book around 5500 clean retail, which it is... No problems, no dents, 4 new tie rods, 4 new tires, new battery, new alternator. The car is loaded and I still love it, just never had much aftermarket parts for them, thats why i got the gtp. Average trade-in is 2500-3000.

Iv'e asked my friends for advice on a starter bike...they all said "get one that's slow and you wouldn't mind dumping." I am a taurus SHO fan as well, i used to have a 99', I probably wouldn't trade, I mean they only made so many of them and to have one in that nice of condition is really really rare anymore...

I don't really see myself keeping it anyway, I would probably sell it. The logic behind it is that I have a buyer that wants my SHO and I'm not going to be able to store it forever unfortunately. I have been asking $3k for the SHO and so far no one has bought it. If I fork up 1k and sell the bike for 5k, i would be making $1k on the deal... that is if I can sell it for that much. I guess the better question would be how much money could I get out of the bike for sure??? There were only 2000 of these made and its a 20th anniversary edition, 05 with 8k miles on it...

if you dont like the sho then go for it. that is, if you actually want that bike. low 11s for a bike nowadays isnt all the fast. most stock crotch rockets run in the 10s. being a v-twin means it is going to have a retarded amount of torque though, so it will pull wheelies if you know how to ride it.

i would trade for it and then sell it for a profit, but thats me.

bigger bikes like that can move. plus there easier to ride then crotch rockets. my dad has a harley 883R 100th aniversery and ive poped a wheel going into 3rd. its hard as hell to hold on with all the torque but as long as your not complety stupid about throttle control bikes are easy to ride.

i would make sure you feel comfortable on it and can hold it up and other than that, hell yea i would trade. ride it aroud for a little while, i would actually keep it if it was me or sell it a few years down the road. its a better bike to start off with than a crotch rocket.

I say trade. If your not driving it often and dont need a spare car anyway.

Sell the vmax if you want and get a nice starter bike.

But I will say one thing, bikes are bikes who cares what you ride. My first bike was a 750 katana. Heavy and a lil slow but I'm a bigger guy. Moved up to a 600rr and sold that for a 1200 sportster. I'm pretty happy with it but I'm sure I'll buy another sport bike down the road.

Bikes are a blast. Like said above, it don't matter the size as long as you have wrist control. I love the freedom being out on mine.

Well a friend of mine who was always interested in the car came in the clutch and let me know that he was interested again before this guy offered to trade me, so I gave him my word that if he didnt buy it, i was going to trade it for that vmax. So he gave me the money and it sold...

SLP gen 1 spoiler and a wideband or projectors coming soon... Im going to invest a chunk of the money into something but a turbo kit keeps calling my name...

You are right Jess. I have seen plenty of cruiser bikes walk all over sport bikes.
