Awwww, come on sugar pop, I dont mind comin' out if you dont.
When I first started chasing and was doing so more or less blind technically speaking and just following where the concentrations of lightning was, it was a real possibility that I could get into a whole lotta trouble. As I mentioned, the May 3rd outbreak here several years ago opened my eyes up to that after I was nearly shaking hands with an F3 twister (well now they use the EF scale, back then it was just F), ironically I chased that storm in the last Grand Prix I had.
Now Im a little wiser, more connected and informed and can keep closer tabs on such things and better avoid such situations. Lightning can and does occur anywhere within the storm whereas twisters largely occur on the southwest side of the storm and I rarely chase a storm in that area unless it just cant be avoided and when I know Im in that area of the storm Im a bit more stand-offish, particularly when I encounter hail.
If you ever chase with me you will probably observe if I encounter hail I'll shift my attention from the laptop, radio, scanner or any number of other tools I may use for information and start focusing on the sky and watching the lightning flashes for any signs of trouble.
yeh its always been a goal in life to come down there and see a tornado and now that i know u i might be able to lol
Well just keep in mind I have never focused on tornadoes. Now systems like last nights, I'll take a stab at it, and Ive been behind a twister before (it lifted before I could get into position to get some shots) but we can certainly take a stab at it.
k we will try
not to take away from Scotty because what he does is awesom.
but none of you pecker heads even thought to ask bout the rest of the Oklahoma or Texas people that got hit with all that crap.
Ummmm, yeah, cause I live here. Secondly, another thread could have been started about that and thirdly, calling everyone a pecker head is not a great way to draw attention to something you are concerned about. Furthermore, if you will notice, kingd44 posted in here because he was concerned and obviously thinking of those people and thought I may have been among them since I was out in it.
Do we have to post up our every thought about such situations or start a new thread to show we care or are concerned? Is that how you perceive people as being concerned about things? Truly, if it bothers you that much, start a thread on it, dont crap on someone elses and certainly dont call people what you did as you will find your efforts will be fairly much in vain on here. I also believe you owe the other people that have posted in this thread an apology for being so narrow minded and blindingly presumptuous.
well since scotty is one of the only people ive actually talked to on this forum who lives in oklahoma i was worried about him and obviously i wouldnt want any one else to have gotten hurt or worse or..... i wouldnt have posted anything at all....no need to feel left out ...are u ok?.....
I live in Oklahoma :)
oloolol im sorry everybody...i didnt know so many people lived in ok....is everybody ok?????
ok Scotty I appoligize for raining on your parade.
also to the other people that took offence to what I said.
and pecker head is not an insult, not in my book. its just another thing.
and yes I am fine.
Well it is official
The 1 of 4 yes 4 tornados that hit oklahoma.
1. Oklahoma City
2. Edmond
3. Stillwater
4. Lone Grove Rated an EF4
The Lone Grove killed 9 people and was listed by NWS as a EF4
thats crazy man...my dog would be perfect for warning u guys.........when the fire alarm goes off in front of the firehouse everyday he goes absolutley nuts...... be great for u guys when that alarm goes off at 2 in the morning to let u know its time to go
Thats quite the outbreak for February indeed. The last time I chased a serious severe storm in Feb., that year was extremely active with regards to severe and tornadic storm activity. An EF4 twister this early in the year is rare.
Its good for me as it should present a lot of photo opportunities, but not so good for the communities and people that are affected by such events.
They're saying it's going to be a crazy year. The storm that was suppose to hit us last night ended up splitting and going around. Man I was ticked.
We had the wind and that was it.
Im surprised my part of Arkansas didnt get hit! We did have some but not in Central Arkansas! THANK GOD! Im glad everyone on here is okay
Glad your ok Scotty! I didnt know anything about the weather until a friend told me tonight... I have been at work, and sleeping, my life the past few days.
WE NEED PICS!
