Hey fellas, I wanted to get your opinions on the Chevy Cruze for a daily driver. I'm not looking for something cool or fast obviously. Just something that is reliable and gets good gas mileage. What do you guys think of them?

Right above a Prius on my scale.
I bought one new back in 2015. the first thing I did was get the windows tinted and a good wax put on. I drove it for a year and noticed the paint was wearing of the leading edge of the rear quarter panels. I went to the dealership and they told me it was "normal wear and tear." what a bunch of crap. paint is not supposed to wear out after a year of driving on the road unless it is poor quality paint or the engineering is pathetic. I ended up trading the car in on a 2008 Grand Prix GXP, but if I hadn't, I would have had to get the car repainted. the permanent fix for the low quality paint is to install mud flaps.
Another thing I didn't like about the car was the size of the seats. when you sit it one, make sure your butt fits. I'm not a big person, 5'11" and 245 lbs, but the shape of the seats wasn't good for my butt.
They do get good gas mileage, but they are built cheap and are not that comfortable. Another thing I didn't like was the back seat, if you put the front seats all the way back there is no leg space for people on the back seat. probably worse than a Camaro or a Mustang, and that is with a 4 door sedan.
Good to know SgtMarshal I will keep that in mind. Did you have any reliably issues with yours or have you hear of any common mechanical problems?
The 2016+ with the complete redesign are nicer than the previous gen. The diesel cars get stupid good mpg too.
I'd opt for the mazda 3 instead personally. My parents bought their 2012 new and it's been once of the best cars they've had, put on over 60,000 miles with no repairs, no hiccups, never been back to the dealership for anything. It's the 2.0 skyactive with a 6 speed manual, gets 40-44mpg in the summer time.
Ask Brandon about his Crust.
Pile of junk.
So...Good on gas but cheaply made seems to be the trend
And unreliable with plenty of issues.
You'd be better off getting the ignition recall done on a Cobalt/Ion and buying one of those if you're looking for a cheap GM economy car. I had two of them, and the lady had a G5. Great, simple, reliable cars that got GREAT gas mileage.
My boss bought a brand new 2013 model and at 13k miles it started pouring out oil.
Car looks and feels cheap.
Cars like the Cruze are what I classify as a throw away car, they get you from point a to point b and get decent gas mileage, but if something breaks on it you just get rid of it and buy something else.
Cheap, my good buddy has the LT and he's had it for no more than 6 months and want's to get rid of it. right next to a new Prius imo. And that's putting it nicely, my co workers have a lot worse to say about that car ( we get them more than any car in the entire shop) i would never buy one, get a civic.
