^^^^i do like Mobil 1 but you have a good point there. Mainly use Mobil 1 because you can get it on sale at Costco 3-4 times a year for $4.20 a qt. hell cheap Dino oil is like 3 bucks a qt now.

Mobil 1 is good stuff, but Pennzoil platinum has proven to work better in the LS platform engines. Not that Mobil 1 is hurting it, but the Pennzoil additive package works better with LS motors. I run both. Just depends on what is available.

Well i change my Dexcool at the recommended intervals and have had no problems on my GXP. Also Mobil 1 since day one and no noise, oil burning or DOD issues at 115k now.

Everything I have read states the same about the Pennzoil being better for most any engine. And let's not forget about the wear scar test where Mobil 1 is actually one of the worst performers. http://www.bestsynthetic.com/best-sy...otor-oil.shtml

This is quite a bit older but shows what this specific test was basically looking at http://www.animegame.com/cars/Oil%20Tests.pdf
This is also an interesting read http://www.xs11.com/xs11-info/tech-t...otor-oils.html

I did. And even if you remove Amsoil from every test Mobil still is not the best. Also read the last link I posted very good information in that as well. I'll just quote the important part.
"None of the tested oils proved better than the others in our tests. There may be small differences that our tests didn't reveal, but unless you typically drive under more severe conditions than a New York cab does, you won't go wrong if you shop strictly by price or availability. Buy the viscosity grade recommended in your owner's manual, and look for the starburst emblem. Even the expensive synthetics (typically, $3 or $4 a quart) worked no better than conventional motor oils in our taxi tests, but they're worth considering for extreme driving conditions high ambient temperatures and high engine load or very cold temperatures. On the basis of our test results, we think that the commonly recommended 3,000-mile oil-change interval is conservative. For "normal" service, 7,500-mile intervals (or the recommendation in your owner's manual) should be fine. Change the oil at least that often to protect your engine and maintain your warranty. Even for the severe service experienced by the taxis in our tests a 6,000- mile interval was adequate. But some severe service - frequent cold starts and short trips, dusty conditions, trailer towing - may require a shorter interval. Note, too, that special engines such as diesels and turbos, which we didn't test, may need more frequent oil changes."

Seems like changing your oil at regular intervals is more important than what brand you use.
With even the small amount of research I did, it is easy to tell that most of what you pay for when buying oil is the name.

I'm not arguing, sometimes the internet makes it seem that way. I don.t think Mobil 1 is the best, probably Amsoil is. I have 5 vehicles to maintain, and on sale with a Mobil 1 filter that is very highly rated its 30 bucks. I change my oil in all cars at 5k, I can live with that. If money was no option, I may use something different, but I'm cheap too so probably not lol.

In my neck of the woods, a local "home&auto" chain, puts mobil super syn on sale for 17.99 for a 5 qt, jug about every couple months. Pair that with a Fram extraguard syn filter on sale @ 5.99 plus taxes and minus rebate = Under $16. good for 6k miles.

So Enfield is CT? Its Benny's "your favorite store" lol . Website is hellobennys.com . RI residents are allowed 2 rebates per household/address, so if you've got friends or family close in Rhody, stock up & save. Just have them ring you out separate so there are only 2 jugs on each slip. Ask for the rebate forms but sometimes they don't have any, so google mobil oil rebate & you can print it @ home. If I can figure out how to PM you & I remember i'll let you know. I get their circular every week. 6 stores in CT.....
