Hey guys just wondering if anyone knew of a reputable shop near Boston. Blew a headgasket ='( got a quote from a shop near by for about $1500 but it's a small shop only 3 bays and they may not even be able to do the job. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Getting my license back on Monday and looking to get this work done ASAP I miss driving my car. Thanks in advance!

$1500 isn't a horrible quote. Alldata has both sides at 11.8 hours.

    11.8 x shop rate (estimate $65/hr) = $747.5
Head Gaket kit msrp is $270
    LIM gasket is $65
    UIM gasket is $30
Add in some more for injector o rings, coolant elbows, TTY bolts, RTV, Copper Spray, oil and filter, etc
That adds up to over $1112.5.

You can do head gaskets with some pretty basic tools and general knowledge of what your'e doing. What you save on labor can go towards your own tool collection if you don't have what you need.
