So I was able to get rid of my SHO and trade it in for something that's not a rolling garbage heap. I had to choose from what was on the lot and I think I lucked out. I test drove a clapped out 2012 maxima it only had 63k miles, but it was scratched up, the driver seat rocked back and forth, bad steering, and boring. The other 2 cars I went to see besides the one I got were both in the shop. Go figure on their junk lot.
So I ended up test driving a 2012 Volvo s60 t6 . I tried to avoid it because it had a non airbag deployed accident. After the ford I didn't want to risk it.
After I test drove it, I fell in love, Its a little torque monster (325 ftlbs), Acceleration isn't bad either at 5.9. Its awd, it hugs the road, and its quiet inside. Also its an inline 6. Of course its a step back from the SHO in potential (running good with a tune, it was good for high 12s).
I bought it without my usual level of research, so ive been discovering a lot of cool stuff.
Driver selectable steering profiles
auto leveling HID headlights
Corner tracking headlights
Rain sensing wipers
City safety (some low speed collision avoidance system)
3300lb tow rating (per the owner manual)
The sound system is probably the best stock system ive ever heard (not ultra bass, but extremely accurate with a wide freq response).
Im planning to do what is called a polestar tune, Its a Volvo designed and authorized tune. 25hp and 30 ftlbs of torque, but the peak power instead of being at 5600, is now available 5400-6500. People on the forums have netted mid to low 13s in cold weather (intercooler heat soak)
After the tune, im adding a better intercooler, and a down pipe. spaced out over at least a year or two. This is the first time ive ever said this, but I have no plans to change the audio setup.
All in all im pretty happy, I have something quick, comfortable, nice, that can tow a small boat or camper trailer, get me to work in the snow, and then go to autocross. I will put up some pictures shortly.
