From my understanding - Bluetooth is for android. Wifi is for Apple. That is how the obdII communicates with the device.
So for my iPhone's , I use the PLX wifi.
My buddy who uses a android, needed the Bluetooth version.

Yeah I'm just pitching in my .02
not sure exactly what combinations you have tried yet with what devices
worse part of it all , it's always a probability that it's not you and it's the obdII device itself. Drove my buddy crazy before
I have an old plx wifi cable v1 that I no longer use. I use the newer version.
Let me know if you can't get it to work
I'll do that and re-scan. Runnin outta time for tonite, no more fn with car. At this point it'll be lunch tomorrow before I can touch it for a couple minutes. But-
Once I get a connection will that create a profile?
I've been trying to connect mostly with it running. And messing with adapter settings.
all i recall was two codes to unlock the blue tooth, and the t app. load pid's touch screen add gauge and pick a gauge and then any thing highlighted green will work.
i just checked i got my car listed in the profile
i also dont log, just watch it live, like a gauge lol.
See, I am late to the party. So you did get it to work after all.
the last few years its hit or miss it seems if these things work or not. i heard the mini did not work for a lot of gp's, my brother had one for his truck and it was the large one, so i bought one from the same guy being it worked in my car.
mine looks like this one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Advanced-ELM...-/130905669470
Hey man yeah man... naw man. No dice. It should be working but isn't. Tablet and adapter no prob, but cannot talk to the car, period. Adapter says its OBDII to RS232 protocol. That never pops up when the app cycles thru protos its searching for. Adapter states firmware version 2.1. Ran into a guy yesterday who said he had same trouble with a GM car being invisible to an ELM327. This adapter may work on other vehicles. Its tough to troubleshoot things I've never seen or touched before, especially working off internet hearsay. None of the available info is solid so my only option is to buy a higher quality adapter... IF... I give a crap, which I don't. A $5 burn for an app won't kill me, and I still have a decent GTP... whether its able too tell me KR or not.
I got home and tried it on the GT also. Same / same. Then I finally clicked Scotty's link, $9.25. How many brands you reckon I'll need to try before I find one that works on Pontiacs? It seems awful strange that none of these show a list of compatible make / models. This crap must be for rice. As far as what I'm reading elsewhere it seems like when you buy an ELM327 you're supposed to know to buy a handful and expect maybe nothing. There MUST be more to this than ad hype, but I guess its another deal like ultra complex phones that have zero instructions.
Don't let my ranty tone dull the AeroGaming praise, it was cool as hell of that dude to send me one to try. Seems like somebody here would have run into this issue before. Luckily, I have a mental drawer marked "things I cannot understand, at least yet". Stasheroo until I have a different approach lined up. I don't see why USB isn't the more popular method. Anyway, I'm not lookin to log but the blue footed black hooded one might like it if I did. I'll get there if no wrecks.
An another tangent...
My car dealer buddy just called because he scored a black 153K 2005 GTP for $2500. My first thought was Hey but then Aw because 4 door and DBW but I bet I could get it for not much more than his price. I'd go scope it out if anybody here wants one. He will probably just end up making a mint off it by financing it and repo-ing it repeatedly every time somebody finds out about boost the hard way then stops making payments. I was glad he called me on it anyway, and also glad because he is the Chevy truck nut and my other friend sideswiped somebody in hers this morning.
I got the GTP muddy yesterday. Its 47 out. Reckon I'll hose it down. Probably gonna do some OBD adapter shopping online real soon.
I'm in northwest Arkansas, see "location" next to avatar. A looong way off. The only thing mentioned about it's condition was it had damage from prying on the driver's door up by the roof. Every one I've had has had scratches there on one side or the other from somebody locking keys inside. Sounded like it has a dent there. If I can pass by there and see it I'll post a pic or two. I should go test drive it, huh? See what all the fuss is about those seats...
