Re: Junk I drive
I took it as a snow tire reference. Thats kinda what my new treads look like, eh? Everyone refer to the "how to properly abuse substances" thread if needed.
Kidding!
Hey if I use two torque stars on one side of the GT, no issues, right? It has OE five spokes now but one is damaged and I do have extra TS but am not sure if width n backspace are same without pulling one and comparing. Can't see both sides at once!

Re: Junk I drive
I wouldn't be surprised if there was a thread about that.

Re: Junk I drive
Oh hey eric- the we don't need no stinking grass one I never quite deciphered the meaning of, honest. You keep em coming though, man its all good up in here.
GTP ABS light is getting annoying, time for more electrical tape bzz bzz my brakes I hate that! Non-working gas gauge is hitting a nerve too, and all I find local is whole fuel pumps. Tempted to attempt repair but I solder about like I knit. Probably, lol. One I've tried, the other no.
I reckon I'll try the TS's on one side of the GT because one old tire is cracking and nobody said don't do it.

Re: Junk I drive
for your fuel pump your float could have fallen off in the tank. if your going to change the fuel pump its not that hard of a job just you need to clean your dirty trunk junk. (say that 3 times fast lol) its 6 10 mm bolts and a C clip then a connection and 3 fuel lines make sure you let the car sit or face the gas's wrath lol.
-
Re: Junk I drive
^^^Only thing I'd do different is pull the fuel pump relay then start the car so it'll relieve the pressure from the fuel lines.
-
Re: Junk I drive
Fill cap off, pocket screwdriver thru rag under green cap at engine, go. Right? Good time to do fuel filter also.
But, so how do I get the float to stay on? The only time I've tried to snatch the fuel pump was in the 40th and my arm was broke so I couldn't even get the hoses off. So I had dude (foot chopper offer man) get it out. Gave it to him for his LS Jeep for previous assistance. Ironically, now that one sits due to injury too. That 40th might have had bad vibes, man I dunno. Anyway wish I had that now, as I do the passenger airbag I junked.
I put two TS wheels on the GT, to make the best of the mis-matched mounted rubber thats left after the crash flurry. I think shes about ready for an alignment check, yep thats the next step. I could start commuting with it as-is pretty much. Barely get into overdrive. But the low coolant is on unless I'm on the gas. Coolant and wire check mmm-hmmm.

Re: Junk I drive
The float snaps in a hole that has a holder to hold the wire in place. When you install the pump you have to put the float in first then turn it 90 degrees then push down on it to lock it in place. Its really simple to do onve you mess with it for a bit. I didnt read my instructions when I got my new pump. But it works fine. I also changed the plug over so it work fine. Dont need to make a gp more of a fire hazard than needs be.

Re: Junk I drive
Where's Scott to put up a picture of the level sender?
Matt... it's 15 minutes of time and maybe $25 to fix it with a new one.

Re: Junk I drive
this is all i took as far as pics go. my old level sensor is still holding on strong, unlike what bill predicted.

Re: Junk I drive
Scott... take a picture of the level sensor today please. Because if it's holding up good, it's not the original.

Re: Junk I drive
the sender part looks damn worn, but the rod and float are tight. i still have the pump. just not here. i set it behind pinos garage cause it stunk of gas of course lol
and the new one reads the same fuel level.
-
Re: Junk I drive
The rod and float have nothing to do with the situation really. Unless some animal bent the rod or poked a hole in the float those parts are always good.
Remember me mentioning six little fingers, yeah ... when you look at it again I bet you see the fingers.
-
Re: Junk I drive
fingers? like where the the rods hits the contact and reads the level of fuel? its worn good, but still worked well.
ill snap a few pics when i see it again.
-
Re: Junk I drive
Yeah.. where the thingee rides the resistor to give you the level. It's got six fingers and often...when you pull them out you find that you've got maybe one or two fingers left that are barely holding on for dear life.

Re: Junk I drive
Mucho appreciado the willingness to assist! Don't knock yerself out Scotty, I'll probably yank the pump and have a look during one of the next couple weekends. Dilly bobbers and thingamajigs are usually noodle-outable. As far as symptom goes, sometimes it goes dead n turns on low fuel warning. Sometimes it might read right. When tank is below half its utterly confused. Likes to sit at full and empty on the gauge but sometimes reads in between. I quit lookin at it and use the trip odo.

Re: Junk I drive
you level sender is shot to hell. its what they do when bad......i sound like a geico commercial now lol

Re: Junk I drive
Matt... it seems your sender had an encounter with an Italian from Jersey.. and all it's fingers got broken for non-payment of the debt.
