If someone sold a subframe I could just bolt a 3800 and a 4t80 to I would kiss them then start throwing money at them

As you mention, that will also have the added benefit of being able to adjust drivetrain height in relation to axle centerline which I didnt even think about. Awesome point.

I would like to offer this package as a full conversion if I get all the details squared away, so I am trying to think a few steps ahead haha

Give Dave some time to make a few upgrades to the valve body. I'll work out some electronics on the OS side and boom lol

Again I asked for a modular bolt to subframe mount kit ages ago..... Then the end user would also have the ability to weld it to the subframe if they choose. Basically a mount kit setup and some kind of template or measurement diagram that says this goes here drill holes here....... Or weld in place.

Plus a mount kit/template would eliminate the need to ship entire cradles.......

I have a design that clears the 1st gen w steering rack n subframe but yer limited to 1/4" adjustments.
keep in mind I set these up for a take no prisoners tube chassis, thats why there's extra girdle pieces to brace the outboard diff bearing. the rears I designed for the w since it may be a better design for aluminum subframe.

ya'll interested? its 3/8 and 1/4 6061 but the rears havent been sat into a stock subframe but you can see the rear trans brackets are setup for a tight to the trans fit for tabs off the subframe for solid mounting.

i do have a few of my older brackets, they are oversized, sorta cut to fit but both are at the same zero reference height so its easy to align em.

i had actually figured on going for pancake bushing mounts on the rear subframe brackets that bolt to the trans plates, that way the only subframe mod is drilling two holes.

i found a better pic, only thing not visible is the jacking screw

I need to do some research into the electrical side especially the 2-3 shift. Is it true its lazy? Or what's the news on that side of things

inverting the shift solenoid is easy enough but dave has his modified bin.
i have the gm 4t80e guide. working on a pump valve that uses the secondary pump more, but its also difficult to get to the 3rd accumulator.

plus the initial condition maters quite a bit. we have a whole thread on tcg

Interesting. Isn't it buried in the valve body?

    yup

AFL and pressure regulator bores also exibit the same wear and tear the 65e see's and the associated problems.

im not worried about the 3rd accumulator as id want to tear it down and change out the vb with a reman and changup the boost valve. I was talking to dave about having him do a run of 80e vb's while I make a boost valve with more/faster rise in 2ndary pumping. I can make the spool long enough that both pumps run constantly and it can be ground away on a bench grinder to dial it back. that with a stiffer spring and even with worn vb bores youd have enough fluid volume for even a 180k 80e.

I have faith dave will work towards 80e stuff, I sorta have a personal interest in this lol

I really want to figure on a trans brake and that's a major reason I got the gm guide with the foldout hydro diagrams.

    some light reading

So from reading third is still a major issue; however, with the sonax VB and dropping some spacers in the accumulator should fix the issue?

Also how does the input shaft hold up?

    Made some progress!

I located the motor in the chassis exactly where I wanted it and fabricated all the solid mounts. The front and rear mounts are 1-5/8 .083 wall chromoly tubing welded to 3/16 plates. The side transmission mount is fabricated from 3/16 plate and exteneds to the front of the subframe to help limit travel and distribute the additional weight. Overall I am very happy with the placement of the motor and the way the mounts came out.
