Re: New build for the gsx
Loose test fit - found a couple issues
* need 4 longer valve cover bolts for the billet rails
* realized I had a 98 style alternator. Need new tensioner bracket and heater hose connectors
* fuel line might be a pita once the IC lines go in

Re: New build for the gsx
Bob, I see some green gaskets in there. Before you put it all together, please hold the IC/SC gaskets up to both sides of everything and ensure you aren't going to leak before it starts.
Re: New build for the gsx
Yeah I didn't find any other solution. In the past I would trim the excess "green" away and use a thin layer of Right Stuff on both sides of the gasket.
That seems to work but removal and clean time up just went up an hour or two.
I also heard of going gasket-less but not sure
I do get a lot of oil build up just left of the bb valve - around where the coolant and egr ports are blocked off which I found odd. I'll have to look into that before I seal er up again
Re: New build for the gsx
No one ever showed you a sheet of gasket material and a ball peen hammer?
Re: New build for the gsx
Hmm guess not. I've always figured the green pre-cut gasket was essentially the same as the roll of grey gasket I seen at the store. But thr green is pre cut and has all the little holes punched out already.
Hey im always open to suggestions. I could also send you a pic of the oil issue if you wanna see it
Re: New build for the gsx
Finishing up my build which is very similar to yours..I rtvd my ic and sc, also my rails are similar and I cleared my ic lines so you should be good.

Haha, fair enough. If we don't have one you like, we can always build you one ;)
Re: New build for the gsx

Thanks man. Still waiting for that corn though....
little update
180 miles on motor. No wide open rips yet. Needs tuning to get the maf in check Been getting to about 60% throttle and seeing 8-9lbs boost spike on the gauge. No kr yet and my IC isn't plumbed yet. Need some time work out all the small stuff and get badk into tuning. The s1x tune was flawless the entire time I had it. Forgot how tedious it was to start over

Re: New build for the gsx
Awesome Bob, I didn't realize it was in and running!
Another thing I found that works well for coming out of the radiator and making a bend to go up front to a cooler is a U bend from an older caddy. Has the threaded rad fitting to a barb.
Re: New build for the gsx
Thanks Bill - it's been about a week now. I've been on the hunt for those snap-in fittings that would work with my 03 trans. Luckily I had an extra set of the radiator snap-in fittings and by buddy was able to locate that barbed line piece for it. Was about $20 at autozone but he got it at Napa for $12.
Just been going over the details
like last night. Decided to throw in another set of fog lights because you know, fog lights get foggy after a while I guess. My 4th set now
