On the old seats the buckle unbolts. It's the 04 seats that are the problem. I didn't take pics, but it is strange. You can see wire cable at the end, it wraps under and disappears. Nothing about the buckle appears to un-attach from the seat.

id think it has to come of some how. what is one to do should that thing ever break, buy a whole new seat?

whats the odds of the 04 up belt and its gear fitting in the older year? thats pretty easy to get to.

I'm with ya, it has to come off, but it isn't obvious how. I did also think about swapping the belt assembly, but because nobody else has talked about it, I don't think I need to go that route.

I started this thread yesterday, http://www.grandprixforums.net/threa...wap-Seat-Belts, so hopefully others will chime on.

im willing to bet if you were to cut off a 04 up hook side, and match it up and you could grind or file what ever's holding it up away. the hole inside might not be deep enough, or its just a tick to wide type crap is going on i bet.

You need to wiggle and push them in harder to get them to latch so that would be worth having a look at, it's so close. Mine click in better now that they've been wearing on each other for a while.

Did you check out the manuals War uploaded? There's a good amount about the seats in the 04-05 service manual.

Maybe nobody else talked about it because people can be lazy..

I know you saw my post on your seat belt thread, but just wanted to say nice work on your car! I like how you've documented everything on a thread like this. Makes me want to post one of my own if I can find the time! Well done.

    Had the drivers seat repaired:

I didn't want it to spread, and now it won't.

I've used a heat gun to get dents out of leather from car seats, etc... I wonder if that would tighten the area up? What did you use for repair?

    I let the pro's do it. http://www.newcreations.com/

I'll see what some seat time does to it, but its way better than it was.

Swapped the old seatbelt buckles to the new seats.

The buckles are sitting at least 2" taller than they should be, so I may have to address that.

Fixed the buckles once and for all. Just had to drill a 1/4" hole for the tab on the back of the buckle bracket.....
