I Recently got my 02 GP 40th Anniversary Edition it had deer damage on the fender and front bumper needs wheel bearings but is otherwise a great car for $1200, There isn't a spot of rust on it. I have plans for it but not a lot of body mods as it already has the spoiler want and the roof rails also keeping the paint original, not sure about hood if anything ill go for a carbon fiber SD ram air and an SD front air dam. its staying stock for now, but until the upgrades come here is a few pics,

You going stock brakes or upgrading? 06+ Impala area a 12 inch dual piston upgrade that bolts in. F-body's work too, but you need sleeves for the mounting bolts.

I was thinking staying stock and just doing the drilled/slotted rotors with ceramic pads.

I would highly advise against it, lol. Everything bolts right in and it works so much better than stock. The stock brakes are pitiful at best. Unless they are manufactured correctly (most aren't) drilled and slotted rotors are pointless. 00-05 Impala uses the same caliper, so you can get the caliper bracket and rotor, that's it. No bleeding required. The 06+ Impala uses dual piston calipers (and slightly different rotors), so those are even better but it would require bleeding. What color is your brake fluid? It might be time to flush it out anyways.

Most of the time there is a factory upgrade for these cars, one of my favorite things about them. There is almost always something better than isn't aftermarket, so parts are available at local parts stores.

ill have to look into that, my breaks rub and are squeaking, its a little more expensive than I can afford right not.

If your brakes are rubbing you'll need the rotors turned or new rotors, so you'll be shelling money out one way or another on rotors. Pads are literally the exact same (on the 00-05 Impala, not the 06+), so the only extra part you'd need is the bracket, which was $5 each at the JY.

Grab a set of Fbody from the JY or online with brackets then choose your rotors and pads

to use f body brake calipers and brackets you need to also use 98-02 camaro firebird rotors and pads.

The rotors for the F-body brakes are interchangeable with the 00-05 Impala brakes according to model number at part stores, but the stock rotors and pads are only compatible with boat anchors. Why is everyone so against the 06+ brakes? They're a direct bolt in, lol.

Probably availability.. From my experience I'll run into more Fbody in the yard then 06+ Impalas.

Wasn't the case for me, until I bought 06+ brakes, lol. Now I see 2 or 3 F-bodies everytime I go, haha. The dual pistons make a HUGE difference though. I have about $100 in my brakes, including brand new ceramic pads, BTW.

Here in FL at the local pick yards I still rarely run into 04 GPs if that tells you anything so 06 Impalas rarely pop up. Now if I go down the street to the other yard I'll run into all types of newer crap like the newer gen Camaros but they're not a pick n pull style yard more like a lete see if it's in our computer and I'll give you a price then you can go in the yard and pull it.. So when your just browsing and not necessarily looking for anything in particular you'll avoid this yard and prices are ridiculous for the most part.

Now back in VA 06 Impalas popped up left and right but they're asking prices didn't make it worth pulling much

it probably sounds stupid or you may think im on crack but im happy with my stock breaks for the most part. its about 130 for the new rotors and pads on ebay, how much more would it cost to do fbody I have about a $300 brake budget right now.
