ok, sooooo, we may have to make the front SC/IC engine dry sump to fit it under the oem hood...now Al wants to just get the last parts for the Turbo stuff and forego the SC front engine...

I have finally convinced him that we do need to make the rear powerplant the primary drive unit.... it is after all geared towards Tq as well as the 3.71 fdr.

    damned racecars

well for the 4 master cylinders and steering stuff its nearly 1200$

    but yeah, ultimate brake/throttle control
4 pedals, custom setup with bias bar on primary pedal/masters. left 2 pedals actuate just f or r brakes masters

    full control for all shenanigans
    4 wheel vented disc brakes.
4 wheel LS1 dual piston calipers
4 billet knuckles with dual caliper pattern for both 12" and 11" rotors (aka 11.9 and 10.8 iirc respectively) allowing for F body brakes behind 15" rims and cheaper/larger selection of slicks... with just a rotor and caliper position change.
custom pedal assembly with bias bar on primary brake pedal (actuating the two primary 1" bore masters tilton 74series)
as well as two tilton 76 series masters (1" bore) on separate pedals for the flow through masters for just the f or just the r brake apply (think easy f/r burnouts/honing around a roadcourse)

the throttle pedal is setup with a separate lincage/cam for each OEM 3800 DBW pedal position sensor (each cutdown to just the arm/mount) in this way we can play with the f/r throttle bias over time as well as the "instant wot" switch for launching with the rear engine.

steering is strange QR wheel with 3/4 shafts and joints to the oem rack 5/8" 36 spline

still trying to find a deal on the late model MR2 electric PS pump but we may just plumb from the rear engine (now the primary powerplant)

shortened the arms and did a few things to correct the suspension geometry, we can fit 295's up front though turning radius suffers lol

upside is the 9* kpi and 7* caster (1" offset axle centerline for additional stability) and SLA give us beautiful camber curve and anti dive/rise that should make corners quite fun. with the 8" crosslaces the scrub radius is 1" positive going to near 0 with the rims widened to 10" (or future wheels)

being able to move the caliper inboard for the smaller rotors should allow us to get custom 15" rims with 10-12" wide barrels up front and 16" out back along with the greatest selection of relatively cheap 15" slicks for putting down some serious power

ohhhh yeah...though we really need to widen the crosslaces to 10"

nice thing about full adjustability is that we can change the flange to flange distance.
245's give us full turning on crosslaces though im sure the car will look sweet with a rake..
we can shove 255 mt's on the front since the 295's fit easily out back while we get it running.

the lack of hood clearance really makes a case for going turbo....though if we drop the engine and trans pan bellow the rails we hope to at least stuff the SS under the steel hood with maybe just cutting the underhood brace....we'll just use more nitrous to make up for the lack of IC with the 2.6

    4wd kicks ass....4wd ride height....nahtsomuch

    it totally looks stock

Stock for sure... but then it's old enough that most don't remember what stock looked like

Another favorite part of his builds are the attention to details.
To this day I still want to know all stainless Allen socket head bolts sizes from the rad braces to valve covers to the top of the supercharger etc

Yes there's been some progress we did go to the junkyard and pick up some more 4t80e axles as well as more parts and a wiring harness.
The axles are getting machined for me to shorten them using a coupling sleeve till we get the blanks made for splining.
I do have the two front knuckle mostly finalized and steel. They may be a bit heavy but they have the full air flow for brake Cooling and to pump the air out from under the car.

Is it cheating to stretch the c pillar bases/rear quarters to fit 31x16 15 slicks on a street car?

sometimes when shoving 15lbs of **** into a 5lb bag you have to get creative.....

I have a couple pics though....the front powerplant is together and ready, rear engine is a longblock with a trans ready. ive stripped the wire harness's of a lot of the excess and reworked them for routing the bare minimum of wires up to the top keeping most of it around the pan/starter area where the pcm mounts/primary power stuff for each plant resides.

control arms are coming back from powder coating by next weekend for final mounting for the frontend. in the pic is the CV shaft I turned down to 1" for a test fit/measuring stick for the final CV length.

at the drag expo I blew some coin to grab a nice assortment of fittings/hose for plumbing the fuel system/HP and LP PS/ and other hydraulic stuff

Al has been dedicating his time to the body work, antenna hole filled/weight removed and getting it ready for paint
