Below are photos of my 2001 GT coupe, taken this April (2014). The odometer shot was taken in May. It is still my daily driver, still gets great gas mileage and starts right up like a new car.

To date, I've only had to make a few major repairs, replaced the upper and lower intake manifold gaskets and converted to the L26 UIM (http://www.grandprixforums.net/threa...eferrerid=1967 and http://www.grandprixforums.net/threa...eferrerid=1967), and just recently, had to replace the rack and pinion assembly (http://www.grandprixforums.net/threa...eferrerid=1967). Last summer, I had to replace some of the plumbing for the air conditioning, not the compressor though. Thanks to BillBoost37, what would have been an extremely impossible job was only an absurdly difficult job. (http://www.grandprixforums.net/threa...eferrerid=1967).

Next up I have to basically replace everything concerning the suspension. Everything made of rubber is shot, including the brake hoses (I have stainless braided hoses waiting to go in). The motor and transmission mounts are gone, and the lower control arms need to have the bushings replaced. I’ve already replaced the sway bar (34mm GMPP bar up front) bushings and links. I haven’t even looked into the rear suspension yet, but I’m certain it will also need freshening up. Shocks and springs and related mounting parts will need to be replaced.

Sadly, the car may not be worth enough to justify sinking a lot of money into. Insurance-wise, it’s only worth $3500 or less. One small fender-bender and it would be totaled. I know I tend to take good care of my cars and hang to them too long, but I know I couldn’t begin to replace it with even 3 times its appraised dollars.

But, it still looks good and drives well, and is as reliable as a new car.

And just for fun, some “what if” Photoshop pics of 18" wheel options I’m considering:

Enkei RPFI (currently the one I'm leaning towards. These things weigh less than 17 lbs.)

    Enkei RAIJIN

    Enkei FD-05

    Enkei EKM3

    RUFF R355

Clean looking car for that many miles. Id say the 4th set or last set for sure.

The car does still look good, mine has just a few more miles. Its a shame how the front end paint gets blasted so bad on these cars. I vote for the FD 05s
All Grand Prix, all the time. 69 Model J, 99 GT & GTP coupes. All junk, haha.
