Would it look suspicious if I start pulling over only grand prix's and the similar and asking them to pop the hood? Start tracing their strut tower brace and taking detailed pics w/a ruler...lmao.

Proud new owner of a 2003 3800 SC engine w/Trans...driving home w/it now. Definitely needs LIM gaskets, new plugs and valve cover gaskets.

The wiring harness that came with the new engine is hacked up. Can I use the existing harness that is in my vehicle with the addition of some pigtail connectors or am I not understanding that correctly?

you can. follow the top swap faq thread. what to do should be in here. http://www.grandprixforums.net/threa...s-of-3800-Info

good part is you should have what you need to use off the sc'ed harness.

98 Buick Regal GS, F body brakes, Caddy STS wheels, tinted tails L36 bottom end, lightly ported heads, 1.95 roller rockers, headers, gen 5 N* 3.0 pulley, FSIC, 42 lb injectors, a BrandonHall rebuilt trans, DHP tuned and AEM water/Meth injection https://goo.gl/gpV5kW

your late to the party bio. he picked up a l67 whole. but the harness is chewed up so he needs to use the n/a harness and pig tails off the l67 harness to make things work right.

Not tearing it down too much. Going into the trans since its out of the car, but other than that, I'm just going to do the LIM gaskets and fire it up, then go from there. R u sure you dont want to help? Even if i bribe u w/ signing off on any 15-day/fix it tickets you get w/out you actually fixing it? Corruption at its fineist...lol.

Thats just what i do to pay the bills...I'm really a full time dad and husband and in my spare time I turn wrenches...Most people have stereotypes of cops but most people that meet me when i'm not in uniform have no idea thats what i do. I work very hard to keep my personal life and professional life seperate.

i know plenty of people that work for the municipalities (even cops) and they are all normal people just like the rest of us. i wouldn't expect anything different from you.

so let me get this straight, you're just going to be dropping the whole motor in? not a top swap? why are you not buying a cam?

most cops around here have some kind of side business. most of the time home improvements. they run the crews from the cop car, not kidding one bit. do all side work phone calls during the day too. aka while on duty lol

like cops dont make enough around here, they need to run a side business's too.

Not for us. Our Chief has strict rules and regs on part time employment much less owning your owkn business. We cant even work a part time cashier job bc we'd be handling money on a regular basis.

cops here make more then enough as a cop, they should have the same rules here. id say 75% of them have other employment.

I used to work part time too, but thats bc I have 5 kids and i want to keep my wife at home and she also prefers to be a stay at home mother. I know some cops in city of Milwaukee make six figures with overtime. There's patrol officers making more than most division captains. Then again, in their department, ou can put in your 25 years and be done. I'll be working until my body gives out the way the damn retirement system is for me. I have a co-worker that had both knees replaced last year. Cops had 25 and out for a reason, bc our bodies tend to get beat on and at some point we are not physically fit enough to do this job. I'm speaking in general terms of course. There are plenty of older guys out there in great shape, my Captain is one. 50 years old and physically fit as a 25 year old.

they tell me cops dont pay ss either cause they are not expected to live long enough to collect it. pretty messed up stat.

cops around here used to be fat dough boys lol one cop we called crow bar cause he had to be cut from a wreak in the 80's no jaws of life. this guy was huge too. a good 350 to 400 lbs.

then there was fat raffo lol his last name. what we called him. lol but dont let his fat gut fool you, this guy could out run all of us kids.

then at some point 1/2 my local force was on roids and most of them were jacked up looking. the fact we had a lot of WWF wrestlers working out in town im sure had something to do with it.

funny how those guys look so big on tv, jim powers was like 5 foot nothing i towered over him. and i was a just a kid at 17 lol

any why they picked this hole in the wall work out place is beyond be, it was right next to the HS for gods sake, dont you think we will notice who you are? and we did, but for the most part we left them alone. i talked to like 4 of them over time. only if they were out side or in the deli next door. most were ok guys.

Average life expectancy for a cop is 66 years old so on average this is only 10 years after retirement, for most with the new retirement rules, its only a couple years. And with that life expectancy, next year, I will be "mid-life" already. So i'll have to sell the prix and get like a corvette or something mid-life crisis-ey...lol.
