When you make enough power it isn't an issue ;) Girly men. Sheesh.

as i keep saying, i don't want to build this car to be fast. it's an awesome daily as is. it just needs a couple more tweaks to the suspension and it'll be perfect.
after we move this year into a bigger house i'm going to start looking into picking up a truck (49-53 chevy 3100 or 60s c10) and working that over. bag it, sweet wheels, and an LQ4 with a big blower strapped to a T56. i've been dreaming of it for years already.
I can support this build. Just don't get all hellaflushricerfaggottry on it. :)
Although, you gotta admit, this is pretty raw :)

I can't afford that car, hah.
i just watched the video now...i like how he missed 5th like a total dork.
WHY DID SOMEONE SHOW ME THIS?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

i want it.
been having issues with my stupid headlights not wanting to turn on. mainly the drivers side and i think the ballast is just freakin dead.
decided instead of paying (at the cheapest) $125/ballast i would go totally aftermarket with the low beams and run an aftermarket D1S ballast and an aftermarket D1S bulb (6000K). in order to make it all a nice little package i've gotta make a new mounting plate for the ballasts so that they can attach to the headlights just how the stock ballasts do and keep everything contained inside the headlight housings.
that being said i have to pick up a 0.080" thick 12x36 plate of 6061 aluminum after work so i can cut me out some new mounting plates. sweet!
new ballasts and bulbs should be here tomorrow. and some smoked side markers i ordered are en route with an ETA of thursday, but the tracking info hasn't been updated. not super fun stuff happening, but this car isn't done changing yet...
where do you like to get hids from? thinking of doing a retrofit on the hooptys
i bought this set of actual D1S stuff from diode dynamics.
i would never buy anything off ebay or anywhere like DDM or of the like ever again. it's all cheap china bullcrap. the DDM set on my old bike started itself on freakin fire. screw that noise.
plates cut, drilling holes tomorrow.

Mount spacers must be
look at you all fancy.
my ddm on the gtp still kicking after 5 years, the ones from zzp (back in the day) crapped out after 5 months
what? you no read?
i'm making adapter plates for aftermarket headlight ballasts. a set for me, a set for another guy...and another bunch of sets for when people's headlights die and i can sell them aftermarket ballasts that bolt right in for an upcharge. boom.
got 4 plates drilled. going to take home a blank set in case the ones i predrilled are off and i need to use the actual ballast as a template.
also found out my new ballasts have no mounting holes or anything so i'll just double sided tape them to the plate. less chance of them not sealing the headlight that way, too.

first you tape the new ballasts to the new mounting plates you made.

then you do a little cutting, soldering, heat shrinking, and reassemble with the new parts (including new 6000K bulbs).

finally, let there be light!

finally got these stupid headlights working. the drivers side ballast that i swapped back in that was supposed to be good was junk.
got a quote into my local parts guy on a set of work T7R in 18x8.5 +38mm. i decided to go with a normal wheel for this year so i can save up, do some good research, and buy a legit really nice set of wheels next year...which was the plan all along at the beginning of the thread. who am i to go against the plan? i'll run these in the winter, too.
these are the wheels:

they're pretty close to the stock wheels both looks and specs.
