Re: My '05 V - Parts laying around, general laziness thread
i like the washer triangle paint matched, that's cool. i'm not sure about the eye lid part of it.
either way i'm going to have to do something about the outsides of the lenses with the grey border. it's molded into the lens so i have to do some kind of paint work on the outside.
and i like the hood without the vents. those vents are rice like mad.

Re: My '05 V - Parts laying around, general laziness thread
Eh, I don't know.
If the little vents are functional, then I wouldn't have an issue with them. They aren't sticking OFF the hood, they kinda flow into it.
The cowl however, bleh.
I'd do the middle portion, and black out the rest. Are you doing anything with the amber lower lenses?

Re: My '05 V - Parts laying around, general laziness thread
for now, no. however, STS-V fog lights are the same (with different brackets), but they are clear. they sell them on ebay all the time. that's always an option.

Re: My '05 V - Parts laying around, general laziness thread
I'd do that, especially with the silver.
If it was red, or black...I would leave it.

Re: My '05 V - Parts laying around, general laziness thread
i'll have to look into it. the last i saw they didn't really go "cheap". caddy taxes.

Re: My '05 V - Parts laying around, general laziness thread
Sounds about right.
Should have bought a crappy Grand Prix? :)

Re: My '05 V - Parts laying around, general laziness thread - Tyler Durden is slow
wideband gauge location. it should still be able to close up and hide when i don't want to see it. will post up when i get it actually together.

Re: My '05 V - Build so even, it can't
this.
i like when someone puts alittle thought into gauge placement
-
Re: My '05 V - Build so even, it can't
i'm going to get the gauge into the ash tray on lunch today. probably won't mount it in the car until i get figure out how i want to wire it.
most likely going to tap into the HVAC power.

Re: My '05 V - Build so even, it can't
here's where it's gonna go.
http://i520.photobucket.com/albums/w...pscbxnln6x.jpg
i can't close the ash tray right now so it's going to take some trimming somewhere to make it open/close. side note that i broke a nub off of the ash tray area which is where the spring clip sat and made the ash tray spring loaded...so now i have to open/close it manually. oh well.

Re: My '05 V - Build so even, it can't
+1 for a great execution and function. If I didn't hate wiring so much I would've mounted mine above the rear view mirror in a pod.
-
Re: My '05 V - Build so even, it can't
like i said, it's not done yet. i still need to get it to close or i don't like where i put it. and it's not wired at all.

Re: My '05 V - Build so even, it can't
Ricer gauge installed and not doing anything.
You ricer.

Re: My '05 V - Build so even, it can't
i took it out after the picture, hater.

I'll report you for letting a toddler drive your car

Re: My '05 V - Build so even, it can't
now you see it:

now you don't:

i had to modify both the HVAC/ash tray housing as well as grind down the bezel so it'd be about half the height. now in return i have a custom bezel with vents. i still need to sand it down so it's not so ugly shaped and paint it. but it works! next step is to wire it, yay.

Re: My '05 V - Build so even, it can't
That's awesome. I really like that
-
Re: My '05 V - Build so even, it can't
i also got the spring loaded action of the ash tray working again. i'm an engineer, no big deal.

Re: My '05 V - Build so even, it can't
no more rice gauge.
I like it too :)
