**** at this point you might as well order a assembled race short block from on of the vendors.
I think I can still get it done a bit cheaper since the race blocks cost $4k and up. We will be somewhere around $3100. Plus the satisfaction of having done it myself. and no shipping cost which is crazy expensive
Got more goodies, Kirkey roadrace seat w/cover, Northstar throttle body, S-10 pcm tray, ZZP aluminum trans pan, ZZP oversized 1.4" aluminum radiator and picked up a Olds Intrigue 3.5 babystar water pump pulley thats smaller than stock ie. underdrive. more parts coming soon. Looking at end of May beggining of June for getting all remaining parts and finally start reassembly of this beast
Installing ZZP oversized aluminum radiator and 9C1 police Impala engine oil cooler/power steering cooler this weekend due to plastic side tank separating from core. During our last freeze here in Dallas it seperated since we only run water, no coolant allowed. So once it's all stripped down I'll be taking pictures of the installation and all additional coolers mounted. Hopeing to really drop coolant temps with this configuration, can't wait to see how it looks and performs.
Started mock up this past Saturday of the new radiator but ran into issues. The 9C1 Impala cop car fans have a slight mismatch to the radiator, passanger side bolt hole mount is off by 5/8" too low on the fan assembly compared to the bracket on the radiator and 3/8"too far out. making an aluminim block to make it all fit, so no picures till next weekend till it gets installed
Been a while since I posted any updates or progess, I got the adaptor blocks made to mount the cooling fans to the radiator, been on a buying spree lately, ordered Cometic head gaskets .060 thickness, new oil pump, machined pump cover, Rollmaster double roller timing chain, Yella Terra 1.6 roller rockers, front ZZP PLOG, DEI titanium header wrap, all new sensors, map, coolant temp, throttle position for the N*, Caspers fuel pump rewire, crank and cam sensors, O2 sensors, Manley intake valves 1.9" & exhaust 1.57" and more.
Now we are down to the final few parts, new fuel pump, injectors, cam & lifters + all needed machine work, tune the pcm and generally just go through the trans. All remaining parts and machine work will be ready 3rd week of July, then spend the next week in the evenings assembling the complete engine, I'll perform the swap at work and have to have the car up and running by middle of August so that will give us 3 months to iron out all the little details and have the car dialed in for our race on November 15th
Nice write up im doin the same to mine but not goin all out ive already swapped in a l67 with zzp pcm. Ive got the power part down now for the suspension
OP are you on the lemons forum? I'm trying to get a GTP for lemons in 2015.
wow that forum has actually been VERY helpful for me. Didn't realize I commented on this in 2013, but now I've got some financial backing and a shop to do the work in, I'm fully committed to doing this for 2015.
Was this the car from Adam Garrett?
Any more info on the Aztec bumper support? All the Aztec's throughout the years had them? All the ones I'm finding are steel for some reason.
Just wondering as I'm looking at doing quite a bit of weight reduction to my '04 while still keeping it very safe. Thanks!
how much power is this making NA?
