finally got some time time do some much needed maintnance and had some friends over to snap some clearer pictures of the vehicle to give people an idea of what all went into this build. Above you can see the 8 point cage, race seats & safety harnesses along with how stripped out this car is. 2 more weeks and there will be more pictures when the GXP brakes go on and the Carbotech brake pads.

The SE is the red headed step child of the GP world. Most are used for basic transportation and kinda unloved, but they still have a great purpose to be stripped down and raced LOL

We don't bottom out but can go off course or hit some debrie on the track from a car ahead of us. We already have an aluminum subframe and don't know if there would be any additional weight savings over the steel pan but I may be wrong. My other concern would be if we did hit something with the pan it would just dent or deform on a steeel one instead of cracking with the aluminum one.

I was looking at oil cooling over steel. But yes hitting something with a steel pans is less detrimental then with a aluminum one.

We weighed the difference between the stock steel front crash bumper and the modified aluminum Pontiac Aztek, stock was 18.9lbs and the new one came in at 8.6lbs...over 10lbs saved from the front end. We will be modifying the bumper also for much improved cooling to the radiator along with filling in any and all gaps around it to better direct all air flow through it.

So the Aztec bumper support is direct bolt on? Did you happen to weigh it before the modification? Also the little pool foam float mats work great to seal off those gaps cut and trim and secure it with lockwire .

very close to a direct bolt on, we had to cut off a stud on each side. We didn't get a chance to weigh it before. The foam we have is the same that they use for camera equipment
