Re: 2000 GTP...Retros, suspension goodies, And RUST!
I did the big 4 actually, a ground to the rear of the alternator, new charge wires, ground wire to the chassis, and ground wire to the transmission. I also swapped in a CS144 that puts out 80-100 amps at idle, then upgraded the stator and rectifier to 200amp then put a 1.9 inch pulley on it. I had it tested while in the car at the parts store and with car running, blower motor @ 60% and stereo at 18 (out of 30) and it maxed their tester out at 99 amps. That puts the output somewhere around 140amps at idle, so I just aim low and say 120 amp at idle.
The stock CS130D put out somewhere around 60 amps at idle, lol.

Well, looks like you got all the power you need for brighter lights. Hope you get the cluster brightness figured out.

Re: 2000 GTP...Retros, suspension goodies, And RUST!
They're dim LEDs, I have some more lined up that are quite a bit brighter. They'll be $7.50 or so for 10 of them so I'm not to worried about it. I'll have plenty of extras of these though, lol. I'll probably find a way to mount one or two of them in the center console, but that's about it. I have 15 feet of LED strip to put in the trunk once all the rust treatment and welding is done as well. I haven't had light in the trunk for over a month, lol.
Power has always been a thing for me, I want a rock solid 14.4v at least, I'm staying around 14.6\14.7 right now. These voltage regulators are set at 14.7v, so it's not too bad.

Re: 2000 GTP...Retros, suspension goodies, And RUST!
Strut tower didn't get done today, it was too cold to paint, and too cold to lay on the concrete and weld lol. We ended up running up to Springfield to troll junkyards and failed. I found some GMPP trailing arms, but we couldn't get them to break loose and I'm 99% sure one was bent a little. On the plus side, a lowered short bed truck raced me and I won. It was a good race, considering I had 300 pounds of friend and tools in the car. I never saw over 2* of knock either, so that was nice.
Strut tower will probably get done next weekend, if not for sure the next.

Damn it I wanted them, lol. I have Dormans now, but I want GMPPs. Always have. My buddy is going back up tomorrow for other errands but he is taking more tools and might get them off and check to see if they are straight. If they are he'll get them, but we'll see.

So I might have bought some GMPP trailing arms yesterday...I'll probably get them in a week or two. I'm a bargain hunter, let me tell you.

Lol, they are the round GMPP bars, right? I hear the square ones are the same as Dormans.
-
Re: 2000 GTP...Retros, suspension goodies, And RUST!
Square I believe. I'll have to check. IIRC the GMPP came on the montes/impalas/GXP difference being some were round and some were squared who knows why they did it that way.

Well ****. I guess we'll find out if they are the same as Dormans. That figures.

Re: 2000 GTP...Retros, suspension goodies, And RUST!
Get the UMI trailing arms. THey are extra beefy.
-
Re: 2000 GTP...Retros, suspension goodies, And RUST!
At the end of the day they don't make that big of a difference. The lateral arms make the difference. People feel the difference from the new bushings, not the arms. I'll be trying to figure out how to get Poly bushings in the GMPPs when I get them. Red found some actual round GMPP arms at the JY, so I'll be getting them at some point soon.

Re: 2000 GTP...Retros, suspension goodies, And RUST!
Not to mention the potential clearance issues with the tire rubbing against the beefier arms.

Re: 2000 GTP...Retros, suspension goodies, And RUST!
I noticed quite a difference with new trailing arms and haven't had any clearance issues either.
-
Re: 2000 GTP...Retros, suspension goodies, And RUST!
The trailing arms are only under pressure when braking, really. The lateral arms are what hold things stiff when cornering. Did you go from stock to the UMIs? What rims are you running?

Re: 2000 GTP...Retros, suspension goodies, And RUST!
Given the car was over 100K when I replaced then I could feel the rear having better rotation, yes, I did go from stock. Right now I'm running some 17x8.25 +25(?) wheels withouught rubbing issues. Stockers were the same way. I do want wider though.
