Never understood what gtp stood for either :th_laugh-lol3:

GT usually stands for Gran Touring
so
GTP = Gran Trouring (Performance) (being supercharged and all)
Bonnies tend to follow as SE, SLE/SSE, & SSEi
but realistically Pontiac gave no reasons for the labels, just the trim packages labeled as such. WS6 is one of few that stands for the RPO code associated with the upgrade package.
SLE was the only one that ever stood for anything. Sport Luxury Edition.
ive ran into a few problems with this car. forgive me if this is the wrong section.
1. blinker problem. when its cold they blink extremely fast. when its hot they either freeze or blink really slow. its rare for them to blink at a normal speed. ( i guess i should try replacing the rears?)
2. service stability system...common problem ive read. should be a sensor...
3. service engine soon light has come on since it became warm/car sitting in hot sun). noticed this first though while out taking a cruise and launching a few times in a row.
4. car doesnt seem as fast as it should be. i had a 97 gtp and that car was ragged on more and had more miles when i bought it and it just seemed faster. it almost feels like the supercharger in the bonneville isnt hitting its potential. maybe im just expecting more...
5. i had an issue with the interior lights fuse blowing but i cut and wire nutted the mirrors and it fixed the problem. could this be related to the blinker issue some how?
thanks for any help offered.
2. Might be an issue with the steering position sensor.
4. Could be the extra weight of the Bonne. How's the maintenance on it?
Extra 300 pounds and slightly longer gear ratio then a GTP. So ya.. Its slower. My n/a impala(mods In Sig) beat my buddies ssei to 180km/h by a car.
