Ls7 lifters are the same replacement part numbers as 3800 lifter, ls1 lifters, ls3, ls6, ls4...etc
All the same.

Yeah, 'cept they need shorter pushrods in a 3800, longer in an lsx.
Don't ask me how that makes any sense, because I agree, it doesn't.
Also wasn't impressed with the lifters from ZZP.
They died immediately.
So would you say stock replacements are the best choice?
stock replacements ARE ls7 lifters... thats all GM sells. One lifter short of the crazy racing lifters.
So make sure you buy a pushrod length checker or buy some comp lifters and again, pushrod length checker, and install the correct length lifters.
Either my lifters were **** or the oiling holes were in the wrong place. Talking to a local, it seems the oiling port was probably in the wrong spot so they starved on oil and seized.
Goodluck either way. I don't know what the **** was going on there, nor did I honestly have the patience to figure it out. I needed the car, and after a month, I parted it out and got far more than I imagined I would.
sorry i meant should he buy some lifters out of a used low millage 3800?
Sure, use those.
As long as they have been soaking in oil, I'd use them.
I am running stock length push rods with my ls7 lifters? they are 7.05 intense rods though? I don't see any valve train issues.
If everything else is stock size, (head gaskets, rockers, valve height etc no or very minimal taken off head surfaces) then the stock 7.050" pushrods should work fine with ls7 lifters. They are pretty forgiving with preload compared to the comp oe-r's that some run. I would run ls7's or good low mileage stock takeoffs. Just my 2cents.
