Went and looked at a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo earlier today. As many know, I have been looking around for winter beater for some time now. It's got 191,xxx miles on it. Needs tires all around and the AC doesn't work, as well as some other little things. Picking it up tomorrow. No cash has been handed over yet, but we agreed on a price over the phone. I got the price down a bit thanks to my dad's negotiating skills and the fact that the owner's leaving for Florida tomorrow and won't be back until December. And no, my dad isn't buying it for me, he's just cheap as hell and knows how to get prices down better than I do lol. Hopefully, I get the keys tomorrow and I'll get some pics up.

I prefer just a cherokee, the grand cherokee from those years are electrical nightmares sometimes.

Aslong as it's got a 4.0 straight 6, it's all good. And NEVER overheat that thing, it will pop the first time it happens. Make sure cooling system is up to par if you buy it.

My only suggestion is, get ready to change a rear main seal at some point. It can be done in the vehicle, just pull the pan, 2 piece seal. easy peasy lemon squeezy.

I was amazed at how nice it is for the mileage. I'm pretty happy with it, just needs tires and probably an alignment and it should feel great on the road!

$1250. Pretty good in my opinion. Especially for the shape it's in.

We had one with the 5.2. Had around 150k miles on it and it ran strong. You can't destroy the 5.2's. Hell my uncle put over 300k miles on his 5.2 Ram before it finally went.

Disagree. My brother had a 4.0 Cherokee with a lift and 32" tires. I towed a 3000GT with it and averaged 17 mpg. The 4.3 Silverado I drive for work barely gets that without towing.
