After a long frustrating car search, I had decided upon this beauty. She's got 196k miles and hardly any rust. Rockers are good. The only specks of rust seem to be under the gas door.. Pardon the snow.. Was extremely bitter outside and was freezing already.

As far as plans, I'm pulling a new trans out of a pick n pull yard next week. Thats probably about it until summer time, when I grab some headers, t-stat, and a rebuilt bulletproof tranny.

If your gonna put a trans in it, which requires engine removal you might as well put the headers on then, also is the trans in the car blown? Because there's nothing wrong with having a spare one but why fix what isn't broke?

Yeah. The forward bands might be shot. The radiator also needs a replace, could be the atf mixed with the coolant and messed some stuff up. I've got a new one on the way, and seeing if a trans flush does any good before a replace. Moves in reverse perfectly though.

    OMG NO.

    dont flush the trans.

You'll kill it even more. Trust me on this.

I flushed my trans at 142k, by 145k the trans was shot.

Youll just kill the trans by doing that, most likely.

It doesn't move forward at all. I could sit there all day redlining it in 1-2 and it will never move. So I think its already dead and I won't have much to lose.

1 and 2 do nothing. Well, if it revs a few seconds in 1 the speedometer will go to 10, but the wheels don't move.

Hmmmm doesn't sound like the forward band to me I'm no expert but I think something else is wrong with the trans, maybe input shaft? Either way throw a junkyard trans in it and your good to go. I just like knowing what broke on my car when I fix it lol
