Re: Jevik's 98 GTP coupe - Now with rearview mirror delete!
Minor photoshoot. Debadged. Rearview mirror delete! Nah, just gotta glue it back on. With the last 80* day the rearview simply fell off...I do actually have brand new headlights on the way, so I can get rid of the water accumulating, glazed over stockers.
Onto progress pics

Far as whats next after the headlights, new tires and brakes. Then aeroforce. Then headers. Still undecided between 1.9 rockers or the XP cam. Goal is high to mid 13's.

I like it very much. Need something like that done to my valve covers and blower case. Car looks great also.

She might be able to whip something up for you. She's trying to make a little extra money out of her art. We could get a set of covers for you, art them up and ship them to you for under $100.

I will see what I can do after I get back on my feet after the Army. It would be nice to open the hood and BAM, something one off.
Re: Jevik's 98 GTP coupe - Minor photoshoot because it's warm out
So the check engine light is broken. Discovered this using the bluetooth obd reader I got today. I also it's good enough to monitor for knock on the stock motor. Will eventually use the aeroforce, but on a stock motor where I cant really fix any knock that does happen, its decent. Pulled a MAF sensor low input (probably from when it was unplugged. Fixed) and a Bank1 sensor 2 o2 sensor no activity (probably from cut wires).
Any ideas on how to fix the light? or am I stuck using the scanguage every so often?

Sounds like a plan. Let me know when and she'll start right on it.

I have no idea, how in the world you have the patience to all that sharpie.
And it looks perfect. Quite some skill you have there.
Re: Jevik's 98 GTP coupe - Minor photoshoot because it's warm out
Wife enjoys drawing. I cant draw to save my life lol.
The hood's all done and most of the driver side.. Next update will have fully completed pics.
Re: Jevik's 98 GTP coupe - Minor photoshoot because it's warm out
I really like how the design is flowing into other panels! (Hood to fender)
Re: Jevik's 98 GTP coupe - Minor photoshoot because it's warm out
It's flowing onto the bumper and doors too

Cars registered. Drives awesome.. Torque converter likes to stay locked however... Tuning can fix that. And the SC is only boosting 3psi instead of the stock 6-7psi.. Probably vacuum leak somewhere. I'll be redoing the whole vacuum system over the weekend. might disable the BBV if the issue isnt fixed.

So according to Torque app, car has 0 KR. Being as I have a u-bend delete, I'm somewhat believing that's the case.
Heater hose randomly blew off of the back of the motor. I apparently forgot to clamp it down when I reinstalled the engine. *facepalm* In a moment of stupidity I decided to just reach back and put the hose back on while it was still steaming. Didnt even get to the hose before the steam burned me. THEN I decided I should use a glove haha. To make matters worse, refilling the dumped coolant was another adventure, as I decided I wasnt going to wait at a gas station 20 minutes for it to cool down. Simply cork the radiator and let her rip. Another mistake as I found myself covered in heated dex-water mix.... Anyhow, took about 3 days and 4 gallons of coolant, and the cooling system is switched over to the green stuff.
Car's DIC reads 21.1mpg, and the mpg goes up on the highway, drops while in town.. Resetting on the highway it reads 35+ all the way to town. So I'm happy with the mileage I'm getting.
Full exhaust rework (headers to mufflers) over the next month or two. Most likely will trade in the SLP mufflers for stock ones. It's too loud for me, although it sounds great to me IMO, the wife complains about the sound level. Followed by aeroforce. Then a pulley drop. A backup trans is being built in the spare time for when this one goes, this time with the 300 input and a few other goodies.
Re: Jevik's 98 GTP coupe - Car tattoo finished! Pics and video.
Well, sad day. Driving along and the heat got to it. I think the NAPA thermostat got stuck or the fans didnt kick on while at the light. Trans temp got to 275 a few times and just stayed there. Engine coolant reached 250 at a red light. Lost 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear. First and reverse have a little slip. Trans fluid is burnt. So I think the heat completely cooked the clutches and weakened the seals.. And the engine oil pump isnt pumping enough (oil light on), causing a knocking sound past 4000 rpm, and there's liquid coming out at the seam under the coolant elbow. So I think the LIM is bad as well.
Wife's now bugging me to sell the thing because of all the problems. Seems like all I'm doing is repairing all the little things, but I'm not going to let it go for an el cheapo price.. I'm picking up a used engine and trans together for $250 and dropping that in during the week. This time it should take about 2-3 days.
Re: Jevik's 98 GTP coupe - Car tattoo finished! Pics and video.
At 250 coolant temp, the fans woulda been screaming there heads off trying to cool it down. I would say the thermostat was not the issue here. Likely air got in the system or the water pump failed.
Re: Jevik's 98 GTP coupe - Car tattoo finished! Pics and video.
love the artwork, that's amazing talent and I'm surprisedd the sharpies lasting that long,And sucks about the engine and trans...

The fans never kicked on, and while it was moving, it stayed at 197*... Which thinking about it, would mean the water pump and T-Stat were fine.

Are you sure the fans never kicked on?
Re: Jevik's 98 GTP coupe - Car tattoo finished! Pics and video.
positive. Usually (at least on other cars) the fans will stay on with the key turned to accessory. or while blowing the heater on full. Neither happened, and I remember never hearing them activate while on idle, even after idling to a little past operating temp.
